There was a tiny tiny threat of a few computer bugs, but people blew it way out of proportion.

It took two days for Bresnan Cable to correct the bug. Their clocks listed Jan 1, 1900. Over all the effect was minor, but only because enough people worried about to make sure they had some CYA on it.

I do think its funny that after a ton of money was spent to ensure that nothing happend to people's banking, billing, investments, and anything else that used a date to calculate moneys owed its now considered a hoax because nothing happend.
