Actually, we have an appraisal system in place. Most people just don't know it. To understand what I mean you have to understand how REAL appraisals work. Appraisals are not based on simply asking people what they THINK something is worth. That info is useless. What somebody thinks something is worth and what they would actually pay for it if they were buying are often 2 entirely different things.
REAL appraisals, like on houses, cars, jewelry, stocks ect... are based on what people are ACTUALLY paying for like items. If you want to know what something is worth, search out sales of items just like it. See what people are willing to pay. Have a marker for sale? Search for the same marker already for sale here and on e-bay. I have a friend that owns a pawn shop. When somebody brings something in to pawn, they determine how much it's worth by seeing what it will sell for on e-bay.
Bottom line, 50 people can tell you your marker is worth $1000, but if they are only selling for $500 on e-bay or in our BSTs, then they are worth $500. Thus appraisal threads are worthless. An appraisal section would be just as worthless. The BSTs serve the purpose and are accurate.
