Heavy bag and kicking

Hey guys my dad has a heavy bag that i found and starting using. Its more of a light bag its 80 pounds (not 100% sure on the weight) but anyway i know you can do jabs on the heavy bag which i have been doing but i want to add some kicks to it but im not quite sure how to kick. I would like to know how to do a muay thai kick and not a taekwondo kick b/c is muay thia you use your shins of corse and in taekwondo you use you foot which i do not want to break any bones in my foot.

If theres a video or anything, and also can anyone give me tips how to train on a heavy bag with punches and kick and combos and stuff.

Its kind of hard to teach the proper technique over the internet, if it wasnt everyone would become muay thai masters from the web. Take a lesson, a lot of places let you try a class for free...

yup lots of kickboxing places will give you the first lesson for free. do that and then steal the knowledge!

i know its hard i know like the basics of it...im planning on taking muay thia once i get my black belt in aikdo
any tips on heavy bag? punches or combos

Don't bother.

The basics are easy:

Step out at a 90* Angle.
Stay on the balls of your feet.
Pivot.
Knee goes up first, then cuts inward.
Turn your hips.
Throw your arm down to counter balance.

However, it's basically useless. You will just get bad habits since you won't have anyone critiquing your technique and there is no way you will be able to see your own.

In all honesty I would just wait until you take Muay Thai. Or just quit Aikido and start to be honest.

i already started it so i might as well finish it. and im doing it for a kick *** price

I'm just saying, practicing MT kicking without instruction is just going to get you and instill bad habits into your muscle memory. Aikido is mostly garbage if you ask me, but if you are really that determined to get a BB in it, go for it.

thats you not trying to start it but i think its a good starting art and its not a "fake dojo" i am going to finish it b/c im taking it for a nice price
