ST:S Fantasy Baseball draft, feedback, strategy etc... thread

Rate my draft ST:S

$5 buy in

12 teams

Snake draft, i had the 11th pick, typical categories for both hitting and pitching here is how my 21 round draft went...

1: Miguel Cabrera 3B

2: Curtis Granderson OF (was this early?)

3: Justin Verlander SP some retard took Bedard before Verlander lol

4: Brian Roberts 2B needed to if i wanted a good 2B

5: Travis Hafner 1B, Teixera got taken like two picks before this, ****!

6: Bobby Abreu OF

7: Brian McCann C

8: Shane Victorino OF

9: Carlos Guillen SS/1B i think i got a bargain, because i can play him at SS

10: Eric Gagne RP maybe too early, maybe a steal...

11: Chad Billingsley SP/RP kinda regret this now...

12: Chad Cordero RP

13: Mark Buehrle SP

14: Pedro Martinez SP can't believe i got him here! i think he has plenty more gas in the tank

15: James Loney 1B, i think i got a steal here, i'm betting on 30-90 .320/.380/.480/.860 for this year

16: Mark Mulder SP, meh kinda risky

17: Jeremy Hermida OF, **** KGJR was taken right before this, damnit i wanted him in the 17th round!!!

18: Mike Napoli C, 30 HR potential for a catcher which is great in case Mccann implodes/gets injured

19: Aaron Hill 2B, got a steal here he might end up outperforming Brian Roberts even, who knows

20: Yuniesky Betancourt SS, meh wanted a backup SS

21: Scott Rolen 3B, hopefully he's back to his old form, hell for him being one pick away from being Mr. irrelevant in this draft i'd be happy as hell with .280-20-80

I know, but idk it depends what LA does with him, based on 200 Innings last year he would have put up a stat line of 18-8, 198ks, 3.27, 1.33....which is actually pretty good if he stays in the Dodgers rotation, but there have been talks of him going back to the pen...

Id give it a 7-8/10, not bad but you could have waited to pick up some of those guys

Who could have waited much longer besides Billingsley which was already established?

Granderson is a questionable 2nd rounder imo, but he easily has 30-30 potential so it will probably pan out, and if i had waited on him, theres no way he would have been there for my 3rd round pick

Roberts for sure, even though you said you needed a good second baseman, i think you could have found someone a lot better at a different position

Gagne is extremely iffy, could be a HUGE steal though, i probably would have waited a bit longer on him also

And Abreu and Mccann-I dont think Abreu will even be close to what he once was this year. Mccann may have his breakout year this year but that was too early to pick him imo

Not saying they were bad picks or anything (aside from maybe Billingsley)I just think they could have waiteda few more rounds, just my opinion

Props on getting Hafner in the 5th, I figured he would go a lot sooner than that, especially with a 12 man league

I think Granderson was a good pick too

Yeah looking back in catergories besides steals, Roberts isnt even that much better than Hill who i got like 15 rounds later...

Gagne is a coin flip pretty much, but if he flops atleast i have Cordero for saves

McCann is a year older now and will be entering his prime soon, i wouldnt be suprised if he hit .290, and knocked 25 out of the park...but i can see what you mean, Posada was still out there when i drafted him, maybe that would have been the better choice...

If Abreu even puts up the numbers he did last year i'll be satisfied..

Most people got scared off by Hafners last season, but i'm banking that he makes a rebound back to his 06 form, or atleast close to it he is definetely still in his prime, so i wouldnt doubt it.

I had Chad in my roster last year so I'm not saying it was a bad pick, but it deffiantly could have waited. (I picked him up as a FA last year)

You still did better than me. My first couple picks got taken, then after my first two picks there's a got of 6 or 7, so I got these as my first ten:

1. Grady Sizemore
2. Curtis Granderson
3. Justin Verlander
4. Álex Ríos
5. Roy Oswalt
6. Tim Lincecum
7. Kelvim Escobar
8. Roy Halladay
9. Iván Rodríguez
10. Geovany Soto

Then since all my picks got taken from the 10 spot on I got guys I didn't even put in my draft. I'm thinking I might make another team this season.

Grady Sizemore as the 10th pick in the draft, heh not what i would do...Rios third is interesting, i wouldnt put a breakout year past him, although maybe last year was his breakout year...

Lincecum is definetly a sleeper wow...

You got a good deal on Halladay too, i think
