whats your opinion on allowing students to carry concealed arms
So the topic of allowing students to carry arms to class as a deterrent of the mentally unstable with guns came up in class today. At the end of the day, no one had a realistic solution
What's yours?
Forgot to mention, this would apply to college campuses, not high schools

Here in Michigan you can't take you firearm into any school. Even with my ccw I can't. I don't much care for leaving it behind when I enter a school. I think it should be law that all teachers of public school carry a sidearm. An armed society is a polite society. When I get ready to leave in the morning my sig sauer p229 is the last thing I put on.

I've seen enough stupid school fights while I was in highschool that would have ended so much worse if either person were packing. I agree with paintballbum

I'm 100% for it; would pretty much eliminate school shootings.
However I think it should require an additional permit with a CCW.

Read some ccw laws you ****s. There is no state that you can get your ccw in at the age of 18. So guns would not enter a highschool. This would be about collage students with a ccw.

Agreed on both points. Responsible citizens carrying weapons is never a bad thing.

If they're insecure about their build, I think it would be reasonable to conceal them.

This isn't for people under 18, it's already illegal to carry a concealed firearm if you're under 21.
I'm totally for conceal carry on college campuses. Having a rule that says "no firearms on campus" won't stop suicidal crazies from shooting people. It WILL help prevent other students from fighting back.

i love your logic: more people with more guns will reduce gun related crimes

Yeah...do some research, THEN come back and tell me that more law abiding citizens with guns = more crime.

Absolutely support the idea of CCW holders being able to carry on campus.

stfu, statistics about whether guns actually deter crime are ambiguous and can be warped to support either side. great argument though

most police officers have enough trouble getting over the psychological trauma of shooting someone. it would be so much worse for citizens.
i think instead we should have something closer to germany where police men are better armed. but if you have that, then its like a military state.

It would be like opening Pandora's box. An utter hell hole. Everyone would live paranoid of everyone else, knowing that under their shirt was piece of metal that could instantly kill them and many others. A wrong look could set someone off. An accidental shove could set someone off. There would be daily shootings because of people misreading others.
There would of course be situations where it would be beneficial. But you have to consider the negative consequences that would ensue.
edit:so i was a little dramatic with the first few sentences. I'm drunk. sorry.

This isn't about the guns the police have. Once a few squad cars get there the problem is pretty much on its way to being resolve. This is about the time between the beginning of the shooting and the first police response, where most of the casualties occur.
