Tippy A-5 Speedball :P
hey
Ive got a tippmann A-5 with a flatline and an e-grip and im going to try to play speedball with it (stupid me..i know.)
I just wanted to hear what some of you have to say about speedball with an A-5. Is it pointless? waste of time? or could it actually be worth it?
Haha i know... kinda wierd.. but yeah

I have seen it done before, and quite well, They put a response trigger on it, and painted it white with black stripes. lol it looked really cool, but the guy said it took a lot of practice to get good with it. Not sure about the flatline, never seen that in speedball, but it can be done. I would personally just get a cheap electro and play with that, try to find an ion, you can get them for around a $100 on here used.

Smarter than you

Speedball courses are so small that the flatline would only just make tight play around bunkers harder.
Other than that, if you're good, you don't need to worry about the gun you use.

I have seen a lot of ppl do it so nothing wrong with it.... you will want to swap the flatline for a different barrel though

The size and weight of the gun will play against you but it can be done. I did it for the longest time, with a 98c and a 114ci air tank on my gun no less. if you have the disposable income try and get some sort of drop forward or adjustable bottom line. this way you can bring the gun in tighter, and most of the parts can be moved onto a different gun.
other than that, go out and have fun.

you could use a milsim marker in speedball if you really wanted. You wont have the advantages of a speedball marker (weight, speed, size) but as long as it shoots paintballs at 300 fps, you should be all set.

It's not stupid. I see it done all the time. And rather effectively at that.
I used an A-5 with Flatline and RT for several years on the speedball field. Took out more players than I can count right now (just got home from work, lol).
Depending on your position on the field, it can be very effective. I found the Flatline useful for eliminating any trajectory/lob estimations that some other markers require.

But still, even a promaster or ion would kill the A-5 in speedball. Or am i wrong?

Its the player, NOT the marker. You could hand a pro a broken Talon pump and give a new player an Ego and I guarantee you the pro will win.

I would reccomend-
A drop forward-To keep you setup tight.
A 12 or 14 inch barrel-Because the flatline is bulky and not really necessary on small courses.
Double trigger-Pretty self explanatory.

My friend uses an A-5 that's all stock minus a 12" barrel, he does fine with it.
A guy at my field also says he uses an A-5.
Just get out there, have fun, if people give you **** for using a Tippmann in speedball ignore them.
