The same riff over and over again? That may be true with Nirvana, but don't go and say that two distinct genres of music all have the same riff over and over again. Jazz is maybe the most creative, diverse, and demanding music that I have ever heard. Educate yourself by actually listening to the music you're insulting.

In addition to jazz, I think Back, Beethoven, Chopin, and Stravinsky are pretty influential.

I lol'd. But for me it's probably SRV, or Jaco Pastorius. Both have heavily influenced my playing style.

i wasn't insulting jazz, maybe you should read the whole forum before posting a dumb post. The root of jazz allows people to start playing it and they get into the music. The root of jazz is simple and then you can improvise. That's when the creative side comes out and you are able to do anything you want. You are doing what you are and no matter how bad it may sound, you are playing jazz.

I go from Blues, to Jazz, to Classic Rock, to ska. It's pretty weird. I just listened to a Big D and the Kids Table album, and now I'm listening to SRV.
