I dont think cant fully understand and appreciate their music until you see them live based off what I saw last night.

I didn't see this, so I made a separate one
Ourobourus and Metatron are current favs.
I'm liking the album. Some of the songs seem to have this middle-eastern undertone to them. I'm really digging the energy and good Jesus Christ is Thomas Pridgen a ****ing animal on the drums.
I'm very impressed with just about every aspect of the album. Omar finally did a great production job and the band's movements are great. Great rhythms and instrumental works all around.

Thomas Pridgen is absolutely sick. I loved Jon Theodore but Pridgen is miles ahead of him. I still need to pick up the album but I've listened through Goliath and Wax Simulacra countless times along with other songs I've seen on Youtube.
I had tickets to their concert in Columbus and the day of the show they postponed due to illness... they still haven't rescheduled.

bought it the day it came out...i love it so much, goliath is a sick song, i think my favorite is Ilyena though...the effects on his voice in the beginning make me wanna bust myself...hell..the whole album makes me wanna bust...another job well done by TMV...apparently they already have material for their next album...i hope it can live up to this one....and if goliath is any symbol to where they are going in music....could it possibly be better?

I still think "Rapid Fire Tollbooth" is much better than "Goliath". I much prefer the jazzier, softer sound, especially in combination with the lyrics. "Goliath" is going to take a while for me to warm up to, but I do love the part where Cedric belts "never heard a man speak like this man before." Omar still can't solo worth a good damn damned ****. He did pretty well on Se Dice Bisonte, no Bufalo, so I had hope for this new album, but nope... he's horrible once again.
Great music throughout the album though

hes kinda like a jimmy page. he can write/ produce quality songs but his solos are sloppy as hell.
granted jimmy page was a better soloist them him he always stressed the importance of the riffs and not the solos. i think its the same with the Volta

Omar himself even admits he's no guitarist. He only plays the instrument because it has the most control over a band. He can make movements and shifts on the fly when they play live by walking over to the other members and visually telling them. You see him do it all the time live. He said that if he couldn't play an instrument, he wouldn't. But it's his band and things need to go the way he wants, so he has to be in there participating in order to move things around.
I really think that, for albums, he should be having John Frusciante play the solos. They would be more organized and in key. Frusciante is quite an amazing guitarist and with the relationship between the two's playing styles, I think it could go over quite well.

I've been listening to the album on repeat for the last week. I'm blown away, the entire album is truly an amazing work. The favorite tracks right now are Ourobourus, Metatron and Goliath.

I LOVE the volta. I saw them 1/30/08 and it was AMAZING. TMV put on a GREAT show, and they just announced a new tour- no dates yet though.
