This thread is for the organization of the future North West conference of the National Collegiate Paintball Association (NCPA).

(edit: I am still involved with the UW club/team, but am no longer a student and do not have the time to try and organize a NW NCPA Conference anymore. If anybody out there wants to take over and get this thing going, please post up in this thread. Somebody needs to step up and organize an event if this is ever going to happen.)


-Lets use this thread to get the NW NCPA conference off the ground.
-If you are on a college team (or are trying to get one started), please post here and mention which college you attend.
-If you know of other North West college clubs / teams or college players, please direct them to this thread so they can get involved.
-If you have any questions about running a college club / team, post them here so that those who are part of successful programs can help you out and share their experiences.

NOTES:
-In order to start a NW conference of the NCPA, we need a minimum of 4 college teams.
-College teams DO NOT need to be recognized by their school in order to compete, however there are many benefits for being an official school organization.
-NCPA Class AA tournaments are 5-man format. Games last 5 minutes and use modified NPPL rules.
-Entry fees range from $50 - $150 per team, per tournament.
-Registration for NCPA tournaments is through APPA. All players must be registered on APPA.
-All players on a team's roster for any NCPA tournament must be full-time students at their respective colleges during the quarter/semester of the tournament.
-If you attend a campus extension, and your college's main campus has a team, you are eligible to compete on their NCPA team as long as you're a full-time student. For example, UW Seattle has a club / team, but the Bothell and Tacoma campuses do not. UW Bothell and UW Tacoma students can be rostered on the "Seattle" team.
-College teams can compete in any tournament or series they want (local and national). College teams are not obligated to compete only in the NCPA.
-College teams can enter as many teams as they'd like into NCPA events.
-Players of college teams ARE allowed to be rostered on non-collegiate teams. For example, if a player on CDR was a full-time student at WWU, they can compete on the WWU college team at NCPA events (as long as CDR allows it).

all college teams start in AA. i think a college team has to be invited into class A, and they're required to attend a minimum # of (or all) NCPA events in their conference each season. class AA is a lot more relaxed, its cheaper and there are fewer requirements to compete.



by the way, i talked to Nick at DZ indoor yesterday about using the field for an NCPA tourney. hes up for it, we just need to set a date.

well, i know WWU could field a team if somebody stepped up to organize it. there are lots of ballers up there, quite a few more than the guys Buma mentioned.


i'm thinking we could have an event at DZ indoor sometime before the end of this quarter, and then one event on the East side next quarter?

when is the end of the quarter? wsu is on semesters. and when the field over here opens (still snow) we (and i'm sure u of i) will talk to the owner about it

its only college teams for these tournaments i believe. hs is a different deal. i think its one regional later into the year and if you win you go to nationals or something like that.

i think high school is normally separate, but i don't see why we couldn't integrate a high school division into our college events. as long as there is interest, i'm down for it.

Danger Zone hosted an NCPA high school tourney a year or so ago, where the winning HS got a free trip to compete at Nationals. but only 2 or 3 teams showed up, and it was probably only 3-man. hopefully there is more interest now.

not for paintball, all the NW college teams are new and play class AA (only Class A gets televised). UW is the only college thats actually attended an NCPA event, we went to Huntington Beach, CA last year.

Hey this is the U of I club president and someone should try and get ahold of some eastern washington university guys because i heard a rumor that they have a team as well. Also we should look at some oregon school to see if they have teams. I know if we get this started, our sponsor field FTW would love to host a tourny and he is putting a new field in as soon as the weather allows. hit me up with any questions or comments.
