I dig the Border Trilogy by Cormac Mccarthy and the L.A. Quartret by James Ellroy, but neither is really a series, more like spinoffs and clashes of one another.

For true series I actually like the Dark Tower.

I don't know why but I like the Odd Series by Dean Koontz.
I read it now and it's still wholly entertaining and makes me incredibly hungry

Harry Potter was an amazing series to grow up with.
I loved LotR/most tolkien books except his unfinished tales.
I'm finishing up the sword of truth series by goodkind(started out very well, but has gone downhill with the last half of the series)
the Halo books were good when i read them, but after first strike I lost interest.

Harry Potter (I especially like how the characters and subject matter mature along with the reader.)
Chronicles of Narnia
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (good stories, original content, and humor what more could you ask for)
