I recommend looking at the Definitive Air Fill Thread that's stickied at the top of this forum. You're going to find that buying a compressor isn't cost-effective for what you're wanting to do.

Your best choice is to get a couple of scuba tanks and have somebody refill them for your. Any other option is going to cost you a few thousand dollars.

Just get 1-2 scubas to start out. A commpressor will be to expensive. But look at the stickys it explains all of this.

small compressor

I've got a small compressor that will fill your tanks to 4500 psi. It's not that expensive either.

PM me if you're interested.

I really kind of surprised of some of the advice this young man is getting , I mean he is trying to fill HPA tanks to 1000 psi. Maybe we should be sending him to links that supply training before we set him up with pressures any higher then you would find in a bicycle tire.

Sorry, but you're not going to find compressors that will fill 1000-1500 psi. The lowest the "high pressure" models go is 3000 psi.

Otherwise, you can take a look at a shop compressor at 300psi, but good luck keeping the water out of your gun.

Pbmelli I do not intend this post to offend anyone. There are DOT laws that govern the filling of hpa and co2 tanks, I do hope you are seeking to fill hpa tanks and not co2 tanks. Before you buy anything or try to use this equipment you need to research what you are trying to do. I for one would hate to see you get hurt on something that I provided knowing your knowledge level. Again go to your local field talk to them allow them to fill your tanks and play their fields and maybe you will find you won’t need to buy equipment yourself.

Yeah, either do it right or don't do it at all. You WILL blow yourself and your home up if you royally screw up.

Air compressors are generally available in three different pressure ranges.
  • Up to about 300 psi is considered low pressure. The general use is home or shop compressors for driving air fed tools. Additionally, there are high volume versions used for LOTS of tool operation, breathing air, pneumatics, etc. for untethered paintball use, these are pretty much useless.
  • Up to about 1000 psi is considered medium pressure. This is used primarily in industrial applications. These are usually pretty high volume and very expensive. Again, pretty much useless for paintball
  • Over 1000 psi is considered high pressure. Because of the extreme pressures, the compressors are made with closer tolerances, stronger internals and lots of safety devices. The typical HP compressor starts at less than $2900 and can go up to many many thousands. THESE are the ones for paintball. Plus, I think you will find that the little $2900 ones, while not real good for a medium to large field, will work great for small fields or goombahs just messing around in their yard.

Now ... all that said, if you don't know what you are doing, compressed air can be dangerous. Even 150 psi compressors from Sears can and have caused enough force to severely injure a careless operator or someone trying to do something on the edge of sanity.

While I would love to sell you a compressor, just rent a bulk tank and buy a filler to fit it. Then, before you hook anything up, make sure that you get some training in safe operation.

Just my $.02

Just get a pair of scuba tanks. You'll get twenty fills over 1,000 psi.
