haha i hope i never have to play in -15 celcius. But im coming th the conclusion from these posts that a poppit design is more reliable than a spooler?

To be honest, you need to test the market. IMO Yes a poppit design is better then a spool. Then again, If I owned as many spool guns as Timmies, Angels, etc... Then I would probably believe otherwise.

no he is correct a poppit tends to work easier under extreme cold conditions but if a spool valve gun is properly setup it will run just fine as well in the conditions.
basically any gun if taken care of and set up well will perform great in any condition.
but poppit style guns are easier to run in cold weather less preperation needed just some dabs of oil if your really worried and it will run perfect all day. when with a spool valve gun you should use the correct orings for moving parts and stationary, lube it correctly as well(heavy on static parts and light and slick on moving parts) also you can increase your anti bolt stick on most spool valve guns and that helps and if the gun has an lpr you can raise it up a little to get it running perfect again.
as for spoolers without lprs there is over 100 psi pushing the bolt back and forth anyway there should be no reason that a good lube job and if you really need to and your board has an anti boltstick setting raise that up a bit, that should cure your problems.
but again the poppit will always be easier to setup for a cold days play its the paint you have to worry about if its really cold make sure its winter formulated or your going to have a very very messy day with whatever gun you use.

Wrong... Poppet valve markers generally have two moving orings located in the ram. The orings have relatively little contact surfaces marking issues like swelling, shrinking, hardening or orings and gumming of lube much less pronounced. Spool valve markers have at a minimum 3 moving orings and generally much more than that. The orings are larger and thus the oring contact surface is many times that of a poppet marker. Temp fluctuations affects these markers more because of the dramatic increase in moving oring surface.
I'm not saying spooler don't shoot in cold, but making them work can be tricky business, not the picnic you suggest it to be.
For what it's worth, I think DM's are pretty slick and if I were to pic up a spooler, it'd be a DM for sure.

Well you can think what you want, but I know I've never had to do anything aside from bump my lpr up a half of a turn. No lubing it different no anything. And the only time I've ever had oring problems is when my buddy bought a dm5 off ebay and they were shot.

That's pretty much what I've been saying dude... If you were shooting a marker without an LPR you'd probably be bummed though huh? You are missing my poing anyway... Both will work in relatively cold weather when properly tuned, but in straight up witches tits cold weather the spoolers will choke before the poppet.
As for you DM working in cold, why do you think I said I choose a DM over the other spoolers out there? I've seen a lot of DM's power through the cold weather that had SP markers coughing. They are nice markers...

Well aside from sft shockers I've only used matrixes so I don't know firsthand how they react.
