I guess some people will never get it

So today, we finally had a good speedball crowd show up at the field. 11 including myself. 5 of the guys play Semi-Pro NPPL and the others ranged from D2-D4. Needless to say there was some really competitive play. I was using my dirt cheap cocker pump ($10gun, $10 barrel, $30 pump kit= $50 amazing gun) all day and it was first experience playing speedball with it.. About midway through the day I had scored about 6-7 kills (notsure who's ball hit him first) and had been eliminated 4 times. IMO I had been doing pretty good and would've had more kills had it not been for multiple bounces. Well this older guy (bout mid 30's), who throughout the day shot 3 different A1's because of "problems" (would've gladly helped him with them had this comment not been made), as we are dividing the teams tells me "What the hell are you playing with a pump for anyways? Why don't you get a real gun?" "Cuz I can" was all I said. Next game he wound up being the last man opposing us and I took the chance to do a run-through on him. Felt very gratifying. I ask though, "Why the attacking attitude?"

TL/DR 1st time playing speedball w/pump...douchebag made effed up comment...lit him up in next game

I hate threads like this. They all sound the same (and they all end with, then I pulled out my semi and let them have it, like we care... what's a pumper doing even playing semi?). Stop your whining, we've all had stupid comments.

Egocentric you are, pbnlette.

Feels good to shoot the big shot, though. Glad you had fun.

not whining (After reading it, it did sound like it though, my bad) And BTW, I'm not trying to sound like a badass either. My run-through was due to my team's great play, and pretty much all of the good things I did came from having good people playing with me.

I only used the semi cuz it was the last game of the day and I wanted to test the new laser eyes that I put in it last night. Other than that I hardly ever use the thing. It finds it way into my hands at tournaments and the week before them, but other than that.

I just find it odd that some people have an attitude towards you for playing pump. I can understand them laughing at you, or telling you you don't have enough firepower...but I dunno. I'm gonna edit it to get rid of the useless info in it.

EDIT so I don't doublepost: Egocentric...Actually, I'm not at all like that. I was a lineman for 10 yrs growing up and I play bass guitar so I'm used to doing my job and going virtually unnoticed. I prefer to not get any recognition. But yeah, it always feels good shooting the big shot.

Earth to hs2000... 98% of the post in the pump section will sound the same.

No, it's because people are too lazy to search for something... they need "instant" gratification in the knowledge that if they ask their UNIQUE question, it will be answered faster then if they took the time to search.

Sorry, but counting kills/deaths is lame.

It's a measure of the objective completed by a player in an elimination style game. If measurements are lame, you need to go live in a cave to prove your point...and leave us the hell alone.

sorry but my first day in there against the electros it was the only way I could think of judging my play. I felt comfortable with how I did, but needed to put some sort of measurement on it. I figure if the ratio increases in my favor as time goes on then I'm probably playing better as time goes on.

Wow, glad you had fun.

Who cares if he also plays semi? He doesn't need to feel bad for that.

Shoot a semi and just browse here for all I care.

Paintball is about fun & it sounds like you had some, congrats.

well I've converted to 99.5% pump for now. There's never any good speedball going on up here. Sunday I got lucky and figured I'd give it a try. The only reason I played wit my semi was to empty my last hopper and almost pod with the new laser eyes I just put on it. It was the last game of the day and I won't be playing again for 2 weeks, didn't feel like hanging on to already old paint.

I don't know how else to judge my play without a bias. I got a lot of respect from the other 9 players that day. I got about 3-4 compliments and many comments about bounces (those really irked me...making the shot but it not counting.) It'd be GREAT to have people talking about me..." watch out for that guy with the pump, he's better than you think."

But, I wasn't picked last a single time after the first game...that's gotta say something right?
