Hone my skills with...

13 years ago I played in the day of Mags and Cockers...even owned an old Phantom Pump at one time for fun...Big Fun!

After 10 years I got back into it and it was pretty much Ions, Shockers, PMs, DMs and Egos. I have an Ego now and love it, but I need to force myself to increase my skill level.

What would you recommend as a good reliable pump for around $200-300. I am not asking for a vs. thread, just what works for you. Likes and dislikes about anything that you have experiance in would be appriciated.

I'll be trading a mint 68 classic mag and a beat to hell Ion for the best I can get. Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks!

Well if you want to hone in on your semi game, i would suggest an open platform, like the sniper. I personally think pump will only help you on your snap shots and field awareness in terms of semi play. Not so much zoning and all that good stuff.

ok way to help him out.

Honestly I would say go with some type of open class platform(as stated below) that is not a phantom, mainly because after playing w/ a semi, it is hard to get used to how light the phantom is. Now you have to look at how much you are wanting to spend. Outkast snipers are now selling for 120 new i think, or you can go up to the S6(SO HOTTT!!!!) which is 575 new. I would suggest just looking around in the BST

A Sniper 2 (sometimes referred to as a 'cocker pump') platform. You can easily find one for $200.

if your playing semi with electros and want to get better, do drills, and practice with people better than you, it will be much faster.
snapping drills
lanning drills
running and gunning drills
run through drills
communication drills
work on your form (no feet or elbows hanging out of bunkers)

tha main thing would be practicing with people better than you are, yes your goign to get destroyed fo a while, but youll see huge improvement in no time.

a stock class phantom would be your best bet. IMO the best skill builder out there. if you can win with a stock class gun, theres no beating you with a semi.

that isn't true. lol i am awesome w/ a phantom and sniper, but stick a semi in my hands and i play horrible. i can shoot quick enough to keep up, but i just can't seem to hit anyone lol. is it bad when you can one ball a guy in the face w/ a pump, but can't hit the broad side of a barn w/ a semi? i have played semi only 4 times in my 5 yrs experience though lol.

whenever i play semi (not alot admittedly) i alway chant, in my head or even outloud, untill the go wistle - "i still have a pump, i still have a pump ..."

helps me play like i still have a pump, but to make every shot that i couldn't make with a pump.

one thing that i do get rusty on in run and gun. i have to actually consously think of it when im playing semi or open class becuase i so rarily can when playing stock class.

practicing with people better than you is really good. like said, you will get owned but once you can at least outrun those guys, stay out of sight you will have more time to take your shots

I can run drills and such and know how to function on a team.
I always try and play with players better than myself. I take no enjoyment painting people that are new to the sport.

Just looking for a pump with a little consistancy. Accuracy comes with the user, the paint and the barrel....in that order. Looks like a sniper is within my grasp, just got to sell a couple of gats to get one one.

Thanks to all for the replies!

If you're wanting to use pump to improve your semi game, I'd find the marker that is most like your semi in weight, size and feel. Sounds like a nice sniper would be best...

I would recommend you go with a well used but well maintained autococker, and convert it into a pump with a CCM pump kit. It doesn't matter if it's an electro or mechanical marker. Just pick one that has the body style and trigger frame of your choice.
