Okay, I'm tired of all the threads saying, "how do I do it? Can I send it to somebody? $30 is way to expensive for milling!" So I'm trying this myself. I only got the milling done, and I don't have a feedneck to test it with, so I'm not sure if it works yet! If you go ahead and do this much, I'm not responsible if it doesn't work. I made this thread to encourage myself to buy the parts, so people don't have to wait. Okay, here we go!

Tools:
-vise
-crowbar
-hacksaw
-file

Step one, admire your body, its the last time it will look like this:


Step two, put body in vise, leave enough room to get crowbar inbetween vise and bottom of feedneck:


Step three, pry feed neck out by slipping tip of crowbar in that small gap, push down, mine slid out like butta:


Step four, use the hacksaw to cut off the two little nubs sticking up:


Step five, spend about 45 minutes filing down the rest of the two nubs:


Step six, now we move onto the feedneck, cut as close as you can to the inside lip on the feedneck:


Step seven, start cuting down, as close as you can to the small part of the feedneck:


Step eight, once you've cut four times, you'll have a square:


Step nine, cut four more times to get an octagon:


Step ten, file down the points of the octagon, make it as smooth and circular as you can (I fail at this), the place it back in your body, place body in vise, crank that vise down to push feedneck back in ( make sure eye/detent holes are lined up):


Step eleven, stand back and admire your possibly FUBAR'd body after about two hours of work:



Hope this guide is right, or else I might have a problem. Again, please don't try this yet, I'm making it to encourage me to continue my project. Please let me know what you think so far. I'll get the ego feedneck within the next couple of weeks, cut the tube so the feedneck sits flush to the body, and tell you haw well it fits. That will be part two of ego feedneck mod: did I **** up?

i was going to attempt this but i was going to put the feedneck in a lathe and shave down. But i Like the attempt you're doing!

Whats the point of putting on an ego feedneck? Do those bodies not take cocker threads or something?

I like how you left the little part in the front. I got like the same gun as you. Mine will soon be halfed, MQ'd, has an ego frame, ego feedneck, all that good stuff.

No they don't, so you have to shove cardboard and stuff in the feedneck along with your hopper to keep it from falling out.

couldnt you just sand/grind the feedneck thin enough to slide an ego feedneck over and then tighten it up?

if i end up buying a cocker as a 2nd gun(cause one gun jsut isnt enough ) i think ill try just sanding it down, unless system X cocker's feedneck threads are threaded and not press fitted, although im pretty sure they're pressed.

I did this to further Ego-tize my cocker. As you can see, I like to make one-off guns. Here is progress so far:

you coulda used the rubber protectors most vices come with. would saved the scratches on your body.

Didn't have the protectors, old, used vice. Those are from when I didn't have the body tight enough, and the first time I tryed to pry the feedneck out, the whole body slid up, scratching it. I know I should have used something, but I care more about preformance than looks.

i just used a mallet and a piece of wood and tapped each side of the feed neck alternating until it came out

I'm getting some info from dman in the CAD forum. He's done a lot of CAD drawings, especially a really good one of an ego. He told me that under the ego feed neck, where the part of the feed neck gets attached to the body, there is an o-ring too.

But he's going to tell me take exact dimensions of the Nub coming out of the body so i will now how much to cut off the existed press feed neck of my cocker.

For people who look into doing this in the future: I would avoid using a crowbar to pull the feedneck out, as you may end up not pulling it out exactly straight. If this is the case, you may end up with a FUBAR body where the feedneck is loose.

How I would suggest doing it, however, is the following way:

Drill a large hole through the middle (it will be cut off anyways, so it makes no difference, right?) large enough to fit say.. a screw driver through. Take a hollow pole that can fit around the screwdriver arm, and put the screwdriver through the hole in the feedneck. With the body in a vice, just go as far to the end of the pole as you can, and just push one direction or the other. You should be able to twist it out this way.

Although this may not be perfectly straight, it will prevent things that a crowbar could end up doing. If you think about it, a crowbar could end up pulling the feedneck back and against the body when you lever it down. And yes, if the feedneck is not pulled out correctly (not straight), you could end up with a lot of problems with it staying in when you go to put it back.

This is just my 2 cents.

But to conbon. The cut down top looks very nice!

AH NO DONT TWIST IT OUT! if it is press fitted then it has notches inside the body that were ment to keep it from twisting if you twisted it it would **** it up. trust me im one who has taken out a feedneck before
