same for me.

I either had to switch to pump or quit paintball altogether

I play a pump for the false sense of security it eludes to others with more expensive markers. They see a pump and *snicker*. I like to see the look on their faces as they sit by the trucks wondering how they got put out by a pump.

Actually I play a pump because it teaches real skills other than how fast does my hopper feed, spray and pray and mybps>urbps. I probably get the same results as any electro or auto with only a fraction of the ammo spent. Nothing gives away a location quite like a chainsaw fast auto chattering away, and its a lot harder to locate a single well placed shot. In fact, all the guys I play with at one time or another have played pump, and when someone is a walk on at our field that hasnt, its very noticable.

Plus you kick keester at Gettysburg.

Like? You can't provide a good argument without presenting your facts. In my opinion, it's expensive, doesn't take as much skill as pump, and filled with a bunch of un-educated 13 year old kids.

I was a tourney style player for about 2 years, yes it is MUCH more expensive, my team shot 2 cases each per practice, 10 cases a week, and then entry fee to whatever field we played at. I was spending about $70 a week on paint and entry (played on a factory team got paint/ gear at cost) then food, gas, and other expenses. as for the little 13 yr olds, with experienced teams come experienced players, once you stop playing rec and start playing serious, trying to win tourney's and such that changes, ya, you'll have your occasional cheaters and babies, but what sport doesn't have cheaters, so instead of cheating in retaliation, simply give them a few extra next game, they learn quick.
the skill, well personally I think it takes more skill to play tourney style paintball, don't get me wrong I love pump and think that it takes more skill in certain areas, like snapping and such, but there are just more techniques that need to be capitalized on in speed ball, for ex: running and gunning, or laning, those 2 skills alone are very important and can decide if your team will win or lose that game. other things like agility, and endurance also matter (not saying pump play doesn't need those skills) and the skill level was in the high D4 - low D3 area.
The main thing that kept me playing semi was the rush
i honestly wouldn't even say i get a rush from pump play, i just think its super fun, and is a more mature style of paintball

This is all my opinion and just a top-of-the-head brief outline, and yes, once i get a better steady income I will jump back into the tourney scene, having captains quit and going into debt just isn't too fun lol

play pump speedball against your semi teammates. its the only way to play. the rush, the fun, and the skill all in one.

I really want a pump. I took a break from pb for about a year and half and then tried to get back into speedball and I hated it. I played in the woods for a few games and it was great. I got to borrow someones pump as well and loved it. It took some getting use to, but I catch on pretty quickly. I really want rockindaratimp green orry. You better sell it to me.

You and me both, I am friends with the original owner, it was bought as a mech in 2k4 I think, ebladed, had the works. I bought it from him, parted it out and put the ccm kit on it, eventually sold it.

Stop teasing me.... Back on topic. When I was playing a few weeks again, a few guys asked me about my shocker and I told them it bored me. The look they gave me was priceless. I told them I need something different, but didn't know what. This was before I got to use a pump.

I dunno. I've had my Phantom for about 2 months now, I picked up a semi at the field and thought, "Ew, I was using this before?". It's way cheaper, cooler, lighter setup, don't have to worry about breakdowns, don't need expensive upgrades, owning the people with the $1,000+ setup in speedball is great, builds skill, etc.

I played pump in college because spending less was a necessity since I still wanted to play every weekend.

I had a friend who once said, "I play with a semi every weekend unless I can't afford to and then I use my Sniper. I play stock class when I'm dead broke."

I always liked that attitude. He was on a NPPL team and played competitively but when he couldn't afford the paint, he still went and played.

you my friend, have been sigged.

but i've always kind of had an interest in pumps, it really appeals to me because i'm not too heavy in the pockets.
plus, it would just be way cool to gog some "agg" kid from across the field while he rolls his cheat-boarded gun at me.

Last weekend my team went to a scenario game. One of my old paintball buddies went, and used his phantom most of the weekend. Anyway, in the final firefight, him and I played right up front and we each took out about 25 players each in 10 minutes. The difference was that I was using my Cocker set on PSP mode. I had to respawn 4 times (had to go tag our General), and he only had to respawn once. He said that he found that he was almost always ignored by the other team, and allowed to fire at will - because there was such a high volume of paint flying at them from myself and the other 60 people on our team. The point is this - during the course of the scenario, my buddy with his pump got just as many eliminations as many people with full-on speedball gear, and he was rarely shot at.
