i remember seeing a thread in here on how to make the ion stock gripframe silver but i cant find the thread.

could someone either hit me up with a link to that or explain the process of how to do that. is there any way that doing that could mess up the gun??? do u think it would look good with stock grips, stiffi barrel, black trigger, black feedneck, and a silver body? any help would b great.

Just strip the paint (Bix, aircraft remover, acetate, etc) and polish with fine sandpaper

i understand that but how much acetate? pure??? diluted???and how long do u keep it in the acetate?

i believe you're talking about acetone. acetate is a polyatomic anion.

I've done 4 or 5 frames and used Jasco Paint & Epoxy remover. One can does two frames. It takes two coats. All of maybe 15 minutes total. Use a wooden paint stirrer to scrape off loose stuff from the frame. Trust me... it works great. Much faster and less labor intensive then acetone.

All you have to do is go to Wally world and egt some acetone(about two bottles or so), then stick the frame in overnight to let it soak. Then take a wire brush or wheel and strip off the powdercoat. Next, start sanding it down. Once you get to 2000 grit and is is pretty shiny, polish it with Mothers mag polish or your polish of choice. Last thing is to clear coat it.
