filling frozen CO2 Tanks good???????

i work at a paintballstore in puerto rico and some people want to have more air on their CO2 tanks what they do is put the CO2 tank in the freezer so that it cools down and more air can enter the tank and then they bring them to the store so that they can be filled, the problem is that i am the guy that has to fill the tanks is there any risk in filling a frozen CO2 tank? because once that i finished filling the tank weighs a ton. I dont have any training none of that is required here, all ive been tought is to open the fill valve and then close it once the booster stops. i would like to know if its a safe thing to do

Its overfilling a tank.it will blow the burst disk if they let it warm up without releasing pressure. if the disk fail then the tank explodes. so id say yes to the risk factor.

Not good. Once the frozen CO2 melts then it will put alot of pressure on the tank and burst the tank or pop the disc.

The CO2 doesn't freeze, it contracts. CO2 doesn't start to freeze untill about 213 Kelvin (-60 C), which your freezer won't get to.

Anyway, given that the area you live in is tropical/sub-tropical, the tanks will warm up faster. A few extra ounces isn't going to kill it, but you should refuse to fill it for the customers, otherwise you've got yourself some serious liability issues.

Freezing the tank doesn't do anything. When filling co2 tanks you put a bit of the co2 in and then vent it. Why? To cool down the tank. So all you are doing is to use a cool tank.

You also won't put more co2 in the tank then with a warm tank. Remember, you are filling a tank by WEIGHT not volume. 20oz of Co2 will weigh the same in a warm tank or a 'frozen' tank.

Freezing it just makes it easier to fill the tanks. Anyone who was properly trained to fill a Co2 tank knows you have to chill it, this removes that step and saves air, thus money. The field I work at does this to all of their tanks.

i always freeze my tank before filling them and a bursk disc or a tank has never blown
