There aren't enough college teams over there to warrant a west coast conference.

sucks but we are trying very hard to make more tournies this year, we have suffered for a few years to stick around, but for the West, you have all of the Socal teams that have more backing while the rest of the west is either fest or most of the time famine.

Teams that could possibly make up the conference are us (CSUSM), UCI, SCU, and NAU. If UCSD's team got more support from their school then probably them too. We've lost a couple of good ballers. Basically their rationality is why should I bother playing with a college team when I can play Division what ever for an actual cash prize? We don't win anything at NCPA events besides a trophy and glory but that isn't enough for some people.

That very mentality is what will keep a region from ever establishing a conference.

When you get sick of the politics involved playing divisional, then come play the NCPA. It's quite refreshing, and actually made the sport fun again (for me).

Because they rarely win the actual cash prize, and when they do, it doesn't come anywhere close to paying for the number of times they didn't win it.
NCPA may not offer prizes, but we don't rape you on entry fees either.
In 2007-2008, we'll also probably not behosting events with NPPL, so things should be much more affordable.

True that. For me being in college I like being able to play competitively but the NCPA also makes playing it fun. It's also cool when you can go back to school, be in the paper for something, and then at a booth or something be able to show off nice trophies.

Everybody from California thinks they are pros, so obviously, they wouldn't DARE play college paintball! A Californian playing college paintball would be like the Queen of England playing Cricket in Pakistan.
And god forbid if you had to play a team with a californian on it!!!! You might as well quit and save yourself the paint!

lol, i have a guy from Cali on my team. Yeah, he is good, one of my best. But he isnt cocky and all that. He is actually pretty chill. But I do agree, there is a different aura around the majority of players over there.

Yo, I'm a Jersey Baller who moved to the Bay Area in SoCal and I must say that its not like ballin with old friends on the east coast... I mean, I do hear arrogent stuff like the majority of the time I mention i'm a Jersey baller they all tell me that I'm way out of my league.... Some days I get frustrated by the goups I encounter.. but most days its good times. Ya, I'd say SoCal would be ground zero for a lotta inflated ego's but its nothin to get heated over. SoCal is a great place to play.... but I'm still looking for a good group of friends before they are a team. and their idia of a party doesn't envolve playing xbox ...0 for 3 on the latter clause of finding chill teams in need of anothe player.... well, i'll just keep looking for tryouts until I get on the right team...
In short... I wanna play for Irvine and its that much more motivation for me not to be a lazy college student.

we (University of Washington) played our first NCPA event this year at NPPL HB '07 and had a blast. UW would definitely be interested in participating in a West Coast conference, but I don't know if we'd be able to make every event since we'd have to travel so damn much.
we were thinking about hosting a tournament, but we're all by are lonesome as far as college paintball goes in the NW. and i doubt anybody would want to travel to Seattle for a tourney when only 1 local team is competing.
i've been trying to get people at other colleges/universities here in the Northwest to step up and get clubs/teams going, but have had zero luck :/ theres tons talent here, and lots of people i talk to think it'd be awesome to play college ball and get a Northwest NPCA conference going... but everyone is either too busy, or just plain lazy

Man,that really sucks that NCPA probably will not have any more NPPL bihost tourny with NCPA. I think we should fight to have those tournaments. Without those NPPL tournaments, we will have to host more tournaments and travel farther. Not to mention, the NPPL tournaments are high quality compared to what any other local tournaments can throw together.

i've been talking to some guys at other Washington colleges, and it looks like 2 more colleges (Washington State University - Cougars, and Western Washington University - Vikings) will have club/teams this coming year. hopefully they can get the ball rolling quickly.
