Injury Report
Well I don't even know where to start. You think one day things are rolling and then BAM the Injury Fairy slaps you in the face and makes you realize that you're human after all. I injured my hand during the second match in Chicago sliding into a bunker. At first I thought it was a sprain and didn't think much of it. By the next day my hand was so swollen and bruised that it was really hard to even pull a pod. By Sunday, it was just not happy. I played the second game of the All Star Game and that was all I could stand. There was no way I could have played the 3rd one.
Anyways, when I got back to Dallas I saw my doctor and he referred me to a hand specialist. Turns out I tore the main tendon that attaches my thumb to my hand. This tendon not only keeps my thumb attached to my hand, but it's also responsible for my grip strength and thumb movement. He had to admit me to an emergency surgery the following day since a tendon only has so long until it desolves. If this surgery wasn't done I would have lost all functions of my left thumb, as well as part of my left hand forever. I have played thru several injuries thru my career fractures, broken bones, sprains, etc. This injury wasn't even an option to wait for surgery.
So if everything goes as planned and my tendon holds up, then best case scenerio is 10-12 weeks. If my tendon doesn't hold, then I have to go back to surgery in 6 weeks. Pulling another tendon from my forearm to rebuild my hand. Everyone that knows my passion for this game knows that this injury kills me! This is just one of those things that I have to wait out.
THANK YOU very much to all my family, friends, sponsors, and especially fans that have taken the time out to call or email me showing support. Rest assure that when I heal, I will be back stronger, faster, sharper than ever to represent the 187!

They played on grass in Chicago bro, not turf. Good luck healing up though bro, I dislocated my shoulder and kind of rushed back to play Chicago. It was killing me not playing, but I don't think my shoulder is healed up 100 percent, so I can definitely respect your decision to sit out the full recovery period. It'll all pay off in the end.
