lol, i have an ion =\ but i will be honest. I suck.
I was looking at the sticky about where to buy pump markers. I was shocked. I thought they would be cheaper being pump action and smaller guns. They cost more than my ion. Please tell me i was looking at the wrong thing. Or do pump markers actually run for $300???
Also, quick story. I was playing a scenario woodsball game. Unfortunetly, my team got out except for 1 guy. He was standing behind a tree. Everyone on my team could see him but the 5 guys remaining on the other team didnt even notice. He waited for them to walk by so they have their backs to him. He managed to get 4 out of the 5 out. Good stuff!!

One can spend just as much on a pump-action as a semi-automatic marker.
The difference that makes up the money between an Ion and a Phantom (~$300 new) is this:
Rarity
All aluminum/Stainless steel construction
Quality
Name
Customer Service
Reliability
Ease of maintenance
superior parts
etc.
Of course, ease of maintenance is a variable depending on the marker in question. Phantoms are known to be workhorses, however.

If you look at my Arsenal at the bottom of the page, and realize that I too am jumping on the band wagon a going pump. Not all the time but to really challange myself and my game. If you want to spend less on a pump look around for parts and build it yourself. I just got a 99' Shocktech cocker and going to my team sponsor's shop tomorrow to get a single trigger frame. I really love the idea that I will build it and use it.
Oh, and by the way, I have never used a pump. I'm just going to jump in with both feet.

Next weekend will make 19 years playing paintball for me.
I used pumps when I started, still use one now.
I have semi's, I've done tourney. Still do, occasionally.
Why pump?
Because as a general rule, pump players are more casual about the game.

To be honest I really don't care for pump much. All I really care for are right feeds but pump right feeds are much more common so yeah. They save a little more paint is all. Nothing special.

I started becaue I was too poor to play semi.
than once my finances changed around, there was no chalenge in playing semi, and pump was more fun
it also makes you a better player, and works on your basic skills. also, almost none of the people who play pump are d-bags

The main reason.........Its just damn FUN!
Aside from that it helps save $$, make you move more instead of shooting more, and really just gives you a whole new respect for the game

i like to play with non d-bags.
1 - they dont cheat/wipe
2 - they arent cocky
Just like most Air-Soft players arent d-bags.

i started pumping to save money...then i found out i was good enuff to keep playing pump w/ all the speedballers and i dont really want to go back to semi now
it is alot harder to play pump in the woods because of all the obstructions but i just move around more and try to stay up front

I played pump for the first time today for a few games. It didn't go too well, I gto shot a lot and I don't think I shot anyone. I really need to tune my sniperalso, it was shooting +-10 at best. I am trying pump because I want to shoot less paint and learn to take better shots.

semi feels strange to me now. infact, anything with a double trigger feels uncomfortable, and being comfortable w/ your equipment is extremely important to me.
