The A4 bolt is the best bolt in the world... for any marker!
First of all, I just wanted to let you know, that I know you know what the A4 bolt is desgined to do... to align the ball within proximity of the COPS/Sensi rod.
Secondly, you ever get that mysterious choppage problem? It's when you pick up your gun, go play, turn on the gun, put it in live, and your first and/or second shot is a ball break? Yeah, it happens to all of us every one of us at least once. Or maybe it only happens to me. So yeah, what happens is that as you walk around with your gun, the ball in the breech finds a way to roll back, into the bolt, so that the ball sitting above would "settle" partly into the breech. If you happen to have semi-brittle to outright brittle paint... you will crack/break the second ball in the stack and paint gets all over the first ball and bolt and breech area. The A4 solves this problem, by preventing the first ball from rolling too far back. WDP needs to think outside the WDP domain and market A4 bolts for other paintball markers. Imagine how many hundreds of thousands of Spyder bolts they can sell thru Kingman International... Black Dragun International.... Empire National.... If the great Bob Long can cross over to WDP territory and make twist rises for the Angel, then I would have no problem with WDP making a full line of A4 bolts for all those "other" guns (because they need it even more than the Angel, ha ha ha).
This is what I made when first got my Speed. It's good for 20+ cases of paint before it starts to show signs of wear. It's made from that rubber/foam feet found on the underside of a telephone that sits here on my desk.
Then a couple months ago, I happened to be at a grand opening of a local store called PaintballACE.com (they were offering a huge raffle and free donuts), that just happened to receive a fat shipment of WDP products and so I bought this A4 bolt for $25 plus tax. (you'll notice that the A4 bolt has a red soft tip on it. Speed bolts are lined up on top. The Dezign bolt is the white one on the left).
Here, you can see a side by side comparison of the A4 bolt/Design bolt. Notice how the A4 bolt's soft tip helps prevent the ball from rolling into the bolt, unlike stock bolts that create a space for the second ball to fall into the breech?
Here's a really close close-up shot.
Go buy an A4 bolt, your Angel will love you for it.
Oh and WDP should seriously consider awarding Jingle Rapiz a personal sponsorship, or risk losing such a HIGH profile, HIGH caliber pimpballer. I tried to apply for a personal sponsorship on behalf of Jingle, but Owen ignored my email. Prolly because the rest of you are doing the same thing, lol). Also, I heard a rumor that Rocky C. was going to drop his personal sponsorship from WDP? Well, not that WDP ever reads this dinky little forum here on PbN...

Yes, I agree that A4 bolts work great in Angel LCDs, IR3s, Speeds, AND A4s.
Yes, those are indeed Dynasty Imperial Banana Balls, which I found sitting around, unclaimed in the trunk of Dynasty Lang's car.
Those two boobs, errr... I meant paintballs, are not meant to be suggestive in anyway, it just happend to be placed infront of the Starbucksnaked girl picture.

A guy here used a timmy hard detent on his stock speed bolt. Cut 3 little pieces out of it to fit in the 'venturi' pattern of the bronze aluminum in the bolt. Then a little JB weld on it to keep it in place. He did it before the A4 came out, and its been going strong since then. I think it works just as well as the a4 bolt. For all the speed owners, its a grea idea. If you dont have either speed/a4 bolt yet, obviously its just easier to buy the A4 one.

So I'm curious (as it was no mentioned in the great review), what sort of durability does the A4 soft touch bolt guarantee?
How many cases/cycles can the typical user expect to see before the 'foamie' becomes damaged or ceases to function properly?

ft57: good point on the A4 bolt. I think its a wonderful design and should be employed by more companies.

Avalanche has been remade. By the NorCal Killas or to you, KAPP Factory. And they wont be shooting Angels I believe since all of them are Timmy fans.
This is already on my Christmas list.
I was wondering, do you have to adjust the ram stroke when you put one of these in a speed?

I met Avalanche 2 weeks ago here in Europe. They played ACE'ed Angels.
But I heard that they will play Timmies & there will be a Dark Intimidator !

i find it funny, that if you look at it, the mag had this design out way before the a4 bolt was released. Hey, who invented the foamie? AGD!
any ways, i gotta get me an A4 bolt for my speed some time soon

i think lots of people don't realize that the A4 bolt doesn't have foam at the end, and so it is not a "foamie". it is a rubber thingey...
mine def rocks!!! i think the reasons Angels have this problem is that teh rota breech causes the bolts to sit farther back than on normal guns.... so normal guns dont have this problem.... i have NEVER heard of other guns having this prob before.
i think teh A4 bolt will last indefinitely.
and NO ram adjustment is needed, i think it is better than a foamie, it is more durable and more flexible.... looks good too...

I was merely implying a concept design that has been around far longer than the A4 "soft" bolt. Be it foam, rubber, nylon or bubble gum the soft face concept that WDP employed on their new bolt is nothing new or revolutionary.
My question however (which remains unanswered) is the durability of the soft part. The foamie on my Automag bolt was a disaster, I was lucky to get a case or two out of it. Has WDP found a way to make sure the "rubber thingey" stays intact?
