In the market for a camera

Bear with me if I sound like an idiot because I'm pretty bad with photography terminology. My dad is looking to buy a digital SLR camera in the 700-800 dollar range. It's important that it works with old lenses. Size isn't really much of a concern. Thanks for the help.

What lens? Pentax is all backwards compatible. Nikon is backwards compatible but the D40 won't focus old lenses. Canon's EOS line is completely comatible with one another but not with its FD lenses.

you can go to the B&H site and put in the type of camera, desired megapixels and then sort by price from low to high.

We can't be of much help to you becuase you didn't provide us with much info. Like you said it's important that it work with old lenses but didn't mention what brand. I am assuming you have some old lenses he wants to use it with?

Also, it would be helpful to know what type of photogrpahy you or he is into and how you plan to use the camera. I'd start by looking at Canon XT and Nikon D50.

Thanks for the help. I'll look at some of the suggestions you made. Like I said, I'm not very good with photography so I didn't even know what info you needed.

You said that it needs to work with older lenses. What brand are the lenses? Canon, Nikon, ect...I have a Nikon D50 and love it. My friend has a D40 and likes it, but likes my camera better.
