Okay, so I ordered a new Evil hammer for my Impulse because my stock one cracked. I cannot get the old hammer off of the rod though. I tried to boil it and then use two towels to unscrew it but the rod slips in the towel. So then I tried to do it with a pair of pliers and a towel, but it was far too hard to unscrew. Does anyone have a method that works?

put it in a vice. also do you have the backcap off and an allen key in the ram?

Oh, no I didn't. Does that hold the ram rod in place?

Oh, I just opened up the back cap and I see what you mean. Thank you I'll try again now.

yes,once you take off the ram cap you will see there is an allen socket on the ram rod which holds it in place while taking off the hammer.

for future reference. if you scathed up the ram in this process, i'd suggest replacing that as well before screwing up the front ram housing o-ring and wondering why there's now a leak.

Thanks again, I got it off now. I assume that putting my new hammer on without loctite is not a good idea right? I could always go get some tomorrow. Oh yeah, my ram is fine I made sure I didn't scratch it up or anything.

yes and make sure the loctite has 24 hours before airing up your gun.

autozone is the cheapest place to get it. get the red kind.

red is the permanent kind. u dont want that.

red works fine. the hair dryer method always works with me. the only part i boil is the hammer and with that i can unscrew it by hand (with a rag of course)

if you use red use low strength or medium strength, but ive only had a problem wiith red once but it was no biggy

haha, blue loctite is no good, u need red heat loctite

i always use blue and it works perfectly and then wen i want to remove that part all i need is a wrench and a strong grip.

fooln around with boiling water and hair dryers and instant heat is way to time consuming wen all u have to do is buy the blue.

the red stuff is for wen its never coming off.

i dont fool around with hair dryer/ boiling water either! I spent the $10 bucks and bought the NDZ tool for removing the hammer awhile back! Its quite handy actually.
