If I could make 150,000 grand a year doing that job I'd be all over it.

Either way, it seems like to me people are copping out on just viewing life and thinking about deep spiritual matters for themselves. Life is your own, your own ideas about all the hardest questions of life. You shouldn't need a non-denominational minister to listen to you.

150K is likely what the mortgage company pays the chaplain's employer. My guess is that is probably and inflated figure. Corporate Chaplains of America probably pay his wages and benefits and no doubt they don't equal 150K.

Market place Chaplains have been growing in popularity with a lot of major corporations. General Motors began the program in the 90's. A good friend of mine was the plant Chaplain until he retired.

He worked his normal job hours, but had the ability to be called off the line for emergancies. The after hours time he used for his Chaplaincy was compensated, just the same as anyone else doing overtime.

People were more comforatble speaking to one of their co-workers than going to a 'professional' counselor. He perfomred three marriages, directed people to professional help when needed and even helped families with things like funerals.

It's a win, win. The company is represented well and incures only the overtime he might have. The people in the work place are served by one of their own.

It's completely voluntary - nobody is forced to go to the Chaplain - he/she is a resource.

I applaud companies that do it.

If the company finds it to be an asset to the company, I don't see why it isn't useful.
