Self Lubercating Bolt.

This may sound like a dumb question but I just bought a new Delrin Bolt for my autococker and it doesn't need O-rings. Does this mean that it is a self lubercating bolt? Do i need to use Lube or oil on it?

i think delrin to begin with is self lubricating (correct me if im wrong) that means that the bolt won't be needing oiling.

Delrin is self lubricating. Applying oil to it will cause it to swell, so I would wipe the inside of your gun clean of oil too.

NO NO NO dammit. How many times does it have to be said. Delrin WILL NOT SWELL IN THE PRESENCE OF OIL! Only water. If it were to swell because of oil, we are all going to die because physics just went out of the window. All the oil will do is mess with the paint cause it will give spin to the ball.

not completely true. It is far easier for a water molecule to penetrate delrin, that is true. But I guarantee you that some oil, even if it be an easily ignorable amount, will be absorbed by the bolt. When the temperature you play in goes up the delrin will swell even more and having any liquid on it at all will worsen the situation ten fold. Don't oil the bolt, its self lubricating for a reason.

lube.

It did get a little lube on it when i first put it in, from the little that was left over after i took out my stock bolt, but i took my new bolt out cleaned it off and wiped the insides down a little. hopefully its all good.

i had a delrin bolt a while back that would stick from time to time for some reason. i finally got fed up with it and gave it a very light coat of oil. i never saw any negative effects from this. point: you shouldn't need to lube yours, but don't be afraid to give it just a little oil if you run into problems.

and my $.02 on the swelling issue... a true delrin bolt won't swell in the presence of oil OR water. there was an article in pb2x in which they left a delrin bolt in a cup of water for a week, and nothing happened to it. the source of the swelling stories comes from knockoff bolts advertised as delrin, which contain other materials that do swell from contact with liquids.

I have one of those white derlin WGP bolts. It seemed to cycle somewhat roughly so put oil on it. I've had no problems with swelling and I've been using oil on it for over 2 years.
