wdys/pptw April 4- April 8
Had to get this thing back on track. Hence the shorter time frame.
Heres a few from this funny accident on base. old tractor tried to drive through some dried grass and tumbleweeds.. got stuck and thr exhaust set the dried brush on fire...
I dont really have any artsy fartsy photos... seeing as im there to document.. not glamorize

I really like that second one.
The first one is...meh, just some fireman shooting their hoses into a pile of grass.....we can all do that.
Edit: I hate that fence.

Yea I knew that one wouldn't go over well.
But it wasn't meant to be artistic so I can live with it.

Welcome to my reality

Here are the only 2 portraits that turned out decent from the shoot yesterday
I just took some news papers and stuck them on in the garage
Which post processing [colors primarily] do you like better?

We used newspapers covering a wall as our backdrop for the school news yesterday. We used about 40 sports sections with huge pictures of Joakim Noah on the front.

I like the second drunk...the skin color in the first looks off......unless he's really white. The one thing that bothers me in the second is that piece of newspaper thats bending down. It draws my attention away.

I think the colour is better on the second but the shadow really bugs me, the first one is a better photo minus the colour.

drunktiger21, fill flash would have made the 2nd pic pop and it'd be killer.
satanisanerd734, were you trying to ruin the picture or did you want to focus on her hand and the chain?

Ok this was a failed attempt at messing with DOF. I was trying to get the back guys and bunker to blur but it wasn't working.
And I'm not too sure about this one. Some times I hate it, some times it's not bad.

Crisis- Aperature isnt the only thing that effects DOF
the 3 things that affect your DOF are
1. Aperture ( The more open the less DOF, the More closed, the more DOF)
2. Lens Focal length (Wider lens= less DOF, Longer telephoto lens= Less DOF)
3 LSD (lens to subject distance) The closer you are to the subject the less the background will be in focus. the further away you are, the more the background will be in focus.
the 1st 2 are the main factors.
the reason your first one didnt blur was because you were at 17.7mm focal lenght.

Yeah, I had mentioned before it was more of a scouting for a future shoot. I found the exact spot where I'll need to hoist myself and my set-up down for the cliff diving shots though. Tomorrow is more of a serious shoot.
