Karni Detent...Weird problem

Alright, the detent on my Karni is rubbing the bolt very badly. You have to remove the barrel and jam a swab on it to get the bolt out with the stock detent installed. I just replaced the stock detent with a Hybrid detent and I have the same problem even with it adjusted all the way out. I think it's the actual housing of the detent versus the ball itself that is causing the problem...even with the Hybrid one. Anyone else had this issue? I hate to blow another $25 on a Killa detent and still have the same stinkin' problem with a third detent.

Unscrew the detent a little to give it more space, and put a lot of teflon tape on the threads so it doesnt back out.

if it's all the way out, pull the bolt and the detent and make sure that there aren't any burrs from the eye or the detent threads and holes and such. that could seriously mess up a bolt too.

I'll stick a pen light in there and feel around...good point about the eye possibly pushing it over though. Hadn't considered that.

Tried that. Might actually put two of them on there. How about that eye cover there Doc?

As stated earlier, the detent is threaded in too deep, making the detent body press against the bolt, or strike the bolt as it closes. I solved my problem with teflon tape, then an o-ring when I found one the proper size.

Yah, I've got a box of o-rings that are the correct size....I might actually just put two on the stock detent and see if that works....then throw a little teflon tape on whatever threads are left exposed to get it to stick and not back out.

Are you one of the guys that wanted the hybrid eye covers? I picked them up yesterday, I have a black iron cross and a chrome naughty dogs paw print.

Put two o-rings on the stock one. Worked fine....gonna look for a solution that is not quite so "rigged" though.

get a new bolt. in hot weather some karni bolts are too tight. that would make an edxcellent p block pump bolt though cus the tight seal.

I just thought of that...

What bolt are you using? stock delrin? Mine has a small recess cut in the left side of the bolt for a little more clearance with the detent.

Will do that this weekend when I get back home....on my way to Miami now. Thanks for the heads up. I'll use a high # grit sandpaper and smooth down that side a bit. If I somehow get overzealous with it I'll just replace the bolt.
