I want to home annodize a few parts but i have some questions
Let me just start off by saying that i read an article

I wouldnt be doing this by my self,my dad is a chemical engeneer and would be supervising/helping me

Heres the questions i have
I can strip annodizing wiht oven cleaner but i dont think i can strip chrome
How do i strip Chrome?

what kind offinish will it be straight out of that process,i want a gloss or a polished finish and i need to know what i will need to do to acheive this.

A gloss or satin finish it determined my the surface of the aluminum prior to the anno process.

the parts are already gloss and chrome

Say you want a gloss anno, you would buff the part before you begin, making a very shiney surface for the anno. (I think this is correct)

I would just use abrasives to strip the chrome. Sand paper, buffing wheel, whatever. That's what I usually do. There is probably a better way though.

so after i strip the anno i polish it up all nice? or after i put the peices in the electric tank

and i dont think sanding is an option because of teh shape of the parts

Strip the current anno. Polish it up real nice, then re-anno the part.

To strip crome your have to apply a negative charge I think.....IM me on AIM if you have any ?'s

what do you do to strip anodizing cause I am gonna strip a whole gun then have a friend electroplate it. My friends a jewler....

strip chrome ... well there are different types of wha people consider chrome , there is chrome plating and then polished metal. All have a chrome look to them however clear annodizing and chrome plating are completely different and electro plate is impossible to take off with chemical errosion. You must actually sand it off.besides if you are re-annoing anything you should lightly sand all parts to make sure they are clean and oil free besides light sanding takes out imperfections and reduces milling scars which produces a ununiform surface (doesn't feel smooth)
