i take french also, except the rly sad thing is i was born in france, spoke french fluently for 4 years, frew to the US, spoke english 2 much anf 4got french, now i end up in france-land all over again.  |

I hate taking Spanish. It throws off the order in which I say things in English. My teacher makes us speak entirely in Spanish - any english in class means saturday detention.
Example:
Proper English - There is a white dog over there.
What I sometimes say - A dog white is over there.
It only happens when I say something without thinking much.

I have nothing against hispanic people, but the language just bothers me. It doesn't really seem like you can pronounce anything. There's nothing wrong with spanish-speaking people or the language; I just have this strange distaste for it.

I hate how you're pretty much forced to take a foreign language, spanish in my case, to get into college. It's a big waste of time imo.

I'm taking it for a total of 6 years, two in middle school and four in high school. The nice thing is that I don't have to take it on the college entrance tests (no foreign language category).

I agree that learning a foreign language sucks, but most of the generations from here on are eventually going to have to anyway. Especially when looking at how much more diverse and overpopulated America (and the rest of the world for that matter) is becoming.

The only reason I am taking Spanish is because it's such a common language. It gives me an edge over single-language-speaking people when I go to get a job.
