How much tournament experience you have as a player or team.

So I have no tournament experience, am I required to enter a beginner tournament before rookie?

For locals it will usually be
begginer/rookie/novice
Amateur
Semi-Pro
Pro

PSP is
young guns,
D4,
D3,
D2,
D1,
Semi-Pro,
Pro

Most of the time you start in begginer and work your way up but you can start at rookie in some tourneys. Once you do, you may not be able to go back down to begginer, while in some tourneys like PSP you have to be invited to play pro. However, if 1 player has played novice a few times, they cannot play begginer even if the rest of the team hasn't. That is usually called "sandbagging". If anything, just call and ask the leauge you want to play and they will be happy to explain.

Depending on how they're set up, no. However, if you start out at a higher ranking, you may not be allowed to drop back, that's sandbagging like Amy said. You would just have to study the rules of the tournament.

Edit: You have a nice username too.
