I'm just hoping skirmish takes back the unused paint I have left from BFB. Ya kknow the old trade in up to a year deal they had. It's only half a case, but I dont want it breakin out the barrel on me. I'm sure Rich will read this and let me know.
LOL if anyone goes to chrono and sees a somewhat dark blue paint in the test barrel, it's probably mine.

Chronoing with different paint will give you a different reading. You have to chrono with what you're shooting if you want an accurate chronograph reading.

But there is nothing wrong with using cheap stuff when working on your gun.

Skirmish's Official Position on Non-Skirmish Paint:
Non-Skirmish paint is not permitted on the premises. It may not be used during rec-play, tourney-play, scenario-play, and not even at the shooting ranges. Currently, ALL Skirmish paint has a Skirmish logo on the ball. Any paint that Skirmish has sold in the past has been fased-out according to Skirmish's one-year policy. What is the one-year policy? Any paint purchased at Skirmish will be honored for reuse by Skirmish up to one year after date of sale of the paint. Why can't I use my own paint? Two reasons: 1) Skirmish's only significant source of profit is generated from paint sales. 2) Most paintballs are made with an acrylic shell (plastic.) These plastic shells are then consumed by the local wildlife. With tens of thousands of paintballs being fired each week, and hundreds of local deer and bears, it becomes real clear real quick why Skirmish mandates that the players use Skirmish's biodegradable paintballs.
Ritter, Skirmish has no official policy that allows players to exchange old-Skirmish paint for current-Skirmish paint. What was done for you was probably just one of our managers making an executive decision in the interest of public relations.
I hope this serves to clear up any confusion.

Rich, I love you but I call shens on the acrylic shell theory. Paintball shells are made out of the same gelatin that aspirin are. In the begining of paintball, acrylics and oil based paints were used sure, but the modern day paintball is non-toxic, biodegradeable and water soluble. This is the industry wide standard. You don't think for a minute that the EPA would let us in this day and age run around with toxic oil based paints marking up forest willy nilly do you? Not to mention the USFWS and other state level enviromental agencies, animal rights originazations, Sierra club, eco-warriors with their California lawyers.

Yes you are correct. The EPA will not let any company making paintballs to make it non-biodegradeable. It has to be environmental friendly. Also I don't know of any field that will not let you shoot your own paintballs to fix your marker. You're not allowed to play in the game without field paint. I will chrono with field paint and play with field paint. Beside if I have 2 pods of non-field paint it's a lot. If I'm not playing anymore I usually give my paint to those that are still playing or to some local kid to use for the next time they come to play at the field. Eitherway, if that's the rule I'll follow it.

I can't argue about the StrategyPlus paint prices $45, $55 & $65. But the players at these events are what gets me going to them. I do Skirmish 2x a year so I can handle the prices. It's the game and people that counts.

well the reason i asked is I go to all 3 of Skirmish's big events and always wind up coing home with at least half a case of paint. But like Barney, after hearing Rich give the official word..... no more non event paint at chrono.

Ritter your paint from Berlin is still useable at Stalingrad. It falls in the one year from purchase period. Remember to rotate the bags so the ball don't get dimpled and you should be alright. I have shot paint that was almost 1 year old from skirmish wit no ill effect. It all depends on how and where you store it.

I understand that, I guess, like Rich sais it was a PR move. I rotate my stock at least twice a month and keep it in dryboxes anyway.

Shadawg is absolutely correct, Ritter. You can use non-event paint at the chronos as long as it is Skirimish paint that falls under the one-year policy. Besides, if its Skirmish paint, that says "Skirmish" on the ball, I don't think you'll find anyone that'll give you a problem at the chronos, on the fields, or otherwise.
And actually Shadawg, there are many indoor paintball facilities. At such a place, the EPA doesn't have a legal leg to stand on. Many of these facilities still use plastic-shell paintballs because they're cheaper. I believe Brass Eagle makes them. I only know this because I confiscate it from players every week. On a busy weekend, I'll be able to take away several cases of that crap paint. Believe it or not, I once found a player trying to sneak in with .68 claiber glass marbles! You'd be surprised what I end up taking from players in a typical week - including plastic-shell paintballs. And Shadawg, I love you too man!

amen to that, strategy has best prices around.

If i have extra skirmish paint i either take it home or if we dont have room just leave it for others to use. D-Day my team of 3 guys left 2 cases behind on sunday cuz we were heading out earlier. Coulda used the next week but other people were going thru it and we didnt need it.

I have paint from stalingrad 06 ever see a paintball the size of a golf ball and just as many dimples.

be careful at strat plus with the cheapest paint though. at tombstone they used some crazy purple paint that was impossible to break - it was just bouncing off and causing nasty welts. also, some brand they chose was breaking like crazy in everyone's equipment. i bought the highest priced one and had no problems. you get what you pay for, but you can also be on the receiving end of someone else's crap paint.

I think that may have been a bad batch of Heat if I recall correctly...I got one in the back of my armpit..ouch. The mid and high grade worked perfect for me. A steal at those prices not to mention the friendly people and nice fields.
