Who is they?

Also I was told in HS (years ago) that Lucifer was also thought to be the leader of music in heaven.

To JackoBlades: That is a question that has no "Human" concept answer. God is above all human understanding and thus we could NEVER understand Him or contain Him in the small minds that we have. It is all based on faith and thus you will never believe.

I have often wondered this too. The conclusion I came to is they are destroyed forever. Otherwise it would be a non-battle at the gates of heaven if they just "respawned" after death. There would be nothing to lose if they died and thus would continue to battle for all eternity.
I wonder what gone forever means?

btw, i'm agnostic

You won't find that angels or demons die on the battlefield. They don't die. They retreat after getting their butts kicked. When they find one door is closed, they go looking for another door. I'm just speaking off of what I've found in the bible. Eventually they will all be done away with, but as of now, they run around the earth doing whatever it is they do best. Its really annoying at times.

My favorite story of how Lucifer fell from the side of God:

In the begenning there was god, god creates the heavens and the universe. Then god creates angels and tell the angels to love god and all his creations. Then god creates the earth, and then creates man and tells the angels in heaven to love man as you love me

For many angels they listened to god and obeyed his word to the absolute. For Lucifer and angels like him it was IMPOSSIBLE that they could conceive loving man as much as they loved god.

Because their love of god was stronger than their will to submit to god's word they were cast out of heaven. And so began the eternity of torment.

The opposite of love is not hate, but indifference.

Further, I like to parrellel the angels who submit to god's word to those of muslim faith. While christians and muslims both share similar stories in the old testament in their teachings, stories like Abraham sacrificing his son to god are told completely different. In the Muslim books the story emphasises Abrahams submission to god's absolute word, while the christian version emphasizes the conflict of love for a son vs. the love of god.

So for all those crazy southern baptists telling you to love god with all your heart or you will go to hell you can look them square in they eye and spit on them for me..

Not sure who told this story - but it's not scipture at all.

The Bible tells us that the Devil was a "Cherub" an angle in the throne room of God. He was considered perfect until iniquity was found in him when he said "I will exalt my throne above God's". It was at that point that he (satan) was cast out of heaven along with those angels who followed him.

The creation of man happened after this.
