if you say it is your wrong. its not required to be saved but after you get saved your supposed to do it since it is a law and shows your obedience and is also symbolic. Basically saying you are washing away your old self ect. read the bible

Is baptism required for salvation? and further does baptism require immersion?
No baptism isnt required for salvation. Salvation is when you accept Jesus Christ at you Lord and Savior and that you will fallow Him and love Him will all of your heart soul spirit and mind. Baptism is to show people that you do want to fallow Christ and love Him. When you go under the water its like you got burried when you come back up out of the water its like you rose again, just like Christ died for us the rose again. So no you dont need to be baptised to be saved you have to accept Christ and fallow and love Him. Theres your answer.

Good to see pretty much everyone in agreement. Baptism doesn't wash away our sins since Jesus did that for us. Its symbolism and more. It not only says to others that you believe in Christ, but its also saying to God "I'm ready to serve." I don't have the link on me, but I once read that the rate of those baptized moving away from Christianity to those who were not baptized and moving away are quite different. I want to say it was at least 40-60% difference. Generally speaking, if you get baptized, you are making a commitment.
