Cool Official NXT Shocker Review thread

In light of all the NXT review threads popping up with the new NXT's, I figured this was needed.

So far i like that its light, fast and very accurate.

i dont like the air problem im having and i dont like the trigger.

i ordered a dynasty board m6.1 that supports the nxt bb eye system so hopefully i can get some good tadao board settings and make the gun rip even more.
i need help on the air thing. and i need to know wut bolt to get, wait for the eigenbolt or get one thats already out. thanks guys.

I bought some paint and went home and me and my friend shot our guns. The shocker was not as fast as his ego. It shot perfectly straight and shot through paint easily. It is really quiet with a little kick. Its pretty air efficent too, i shot 2 vlocitys with 1200 psi. It shoots acurate and straight. The only complaint i have is the speed. i need to get it faster and i need to adjust the trigger more to my liking. BUt this is an awesome gun, and is well worth the money. the only upgrades would be a feedneck and board.

I will get the weight of the stock ones tomorrow; also when I get home I will host the pics I took of them on the scale to put the rumors to rest.

The Shocker Just Got Better
The latest generation Shocker includes break-beam eyes, high efficiency bolt, increased regulator flow and more.

Loyalhanna, PA - September 22, 2006 - The new Shocker NXT builds on world-class tournament proven performance of the Shocker SFT with new features designed hand in hand with Smart Parts sponsored teams and professional players.

Few names are associated with as many paintball tournament wins as that of the Shocker. Through the Shocker 4x4, Turbo and SFT some of the best players in the world have stood on the awards podium with a Shocker by their side. With the advent of the Shocker SFT the Shocker took on a whole new look with a sleek, compact and lightweight design that delivered jaw dropping rates of fire. Now the Shocker NXT takes the name one step further.

Built on Shocker SFT technology the new Shocker NXT incorporates features that were developed and tested on custom markers built for Smart Parts sponsored teams. The new features include:

New look with multi-axis milling
Break-beam Vision
Stronger feedneck threading
Impulse/Ion barrel threading
Integrated air system rail
Increased vertical regulator flow rate and consistency
High Efficiency Bolt/Valve assembly
Integrated, removable snatch grip
Four point, externally adjustable trigger
Dual bearing trigger pivot
Threaded trigger and circuit board mount pins
Forward offset vertical regulator mount
Trigger guard with increased fingerspace
Sculpted plunger style dual ball detent assemblies
Harder anodized finish
Backwards compatibility

The last feature on the list should be one of the most prominent. Shocker NXT main assemblies are backwards compatible, providing an upgrade path for Shocker NXT owners instead of obsolescence. Providing continued value to our customers is natural, because we believe that Equipment Counts.

The Shocker NXT is now available from Smart Parts Authorized Dealers everywhere.

The NXT's milling flows from the front to the back. It's very nice. The marker feels really nice in your hands. Break beam eyes was due, and they work very nice. Very nice eye logic. The snatch grip is possible to use, but I'm not sure if it's applicable in a game or not. The marker feels really solid without any issues. I shot half a hopper and one pod though the marker, and the accuracy was not what I thought it would be. I believe the marker needs to be adjusted, because I did turn down the operating pressure, and it came back a little bit. The paint is the other issue. I'm shooting 'rainbow' that's been sitting in a cold garage for almost a week. It's VERY brittle; however, I only broke one ball, and that was a barrel break for sure. The small hump in the back of the grip frame has a very nice feeling. Trigger is hawt as well. With some fine tuning I'm sure it will be fast. Very snappy, but also very light. Something only my NME can achieve.
Ratings. Personal opinion. 10's are VERY hard for me to give.
Milling- 10/10
Recharge- Appeared 9/10
Trigger- 9/10
Feedneck- 6/10
Feeling- 10/10
Trigger Frame- 10/10 (large enough to get in three fingers... maybe not used to it)
Overall- 9/10

The NXT Shocker goes above and beyond the STF. There's no doubt that this will be a very high seller for Smart Parts, and you will be seeing one at your field soon.

Issues- For one I don't like the feedneck. It would be good if I had my hopper, but the Hybrid shells broke (again). I'm using a buddy's unsanded halo, and I'm going to have to remove both o-rings. It will fit in there tight still though. The NXT appeared to be having some sort of issue, but I believe I fixed it. When I shot it around the fourth shot the bolt would not shoot. I had to shut off the air, then turn it back on and shoot another four. Once this happened I took out the bolt, lubed it, and put it back in. It still did it, but eventually stopped and I shot the pod of paint with no issue. I believe (just like my STF out of the box) I had lube up the marker from the factory. My third, and last, complaint is about the on/off. It is very hard to turn, but once again like my STF it will probably be easier the more I use it.
Honestly I would give this marker a 10/10 overall but no marker deserves that. It's simply amazing.
PICTURE TIME!

Out of the Box

STF/NXT

STF on top of NXT

NXT on top of STF

Side By Side

Ball Detent

Ball Detents Compared. As you can see it's pretty much the same, just all internal on the NXT. As a side note the foam below the screw on the NXT ball detent holds in that screw, and pushes down on the vision strip.

I put on Hybrid grips and a freak back. Made the marker look VERY sharp.

I tried to AIM those who have AIM to make sure it was OK with them, but I didn't get any responses so if you have a problem with it, LMK and I will delete your section.

All reviews regarding NXT's should be placed here

Sorry StrangeBalla - deleted my old one.

So, I got mine last night. Had to wait at UPS to pick up for almost two hours but I finally got it. Brought to the field today and, of course, got all the "Ooohs!" and "Aaahs!" - first NXT to show up.

Gassed it up, jammed on the Halo, and started ripping people with it. Overall first impressions were very good and I definitely think it's a great marker. I've never owned a Shocker before (though I have played with my friend's 05 Vision) and I'm glad I have it.

But I have a few problems that everyone should know about - and perhaps they're just my personal preference so take everything with a grain of salt:

1) The feedneck sucks. I hate having to jam my Halo in crazy. Once in, it holds it well and it won't move. But taking it out is a sonofa*****. Can't wait for a clamping feedneck to come out (anyone know anything about that btw?)

2) The ASA is not my favorite. I have a Dye Throttle 45/45 that has served me very well. But after the first few games, as soon as I screw in the tank a bit (I had to take it off to clean it), air started pouring out of the little hole on the bottom of the adapter. Only putting in another o-ring inside the ASA and then screwing the tank in fixed it, abeit temporarily.

I tried one of the field's rental tanks and that worked just fine. But then I tried my tank in my DM5, in some kid's 05 Shocker, and in an Ion - no problems whatsoever. Could be I have a bum ASA. Either way, that's getting replaced really soon.

3) Trigger. It felt nice and after getting a bit used to it, I could walk it fairly easily. But the adjustments feel very subtle - cranking it out didn't make the trigger feel any different, nor did it's placement move too much. However, it started to stick and I had to really JAM on the trigger to get the marker to fire. Put it back the way it was and it was still acting up a bit.

I chalk it up to me getting acquainted with it. I bet I'll have it all set and ready to go next time - but it was a bit annoying. Both my old NME and my UL'd DM5 were a breeze to set up and I had them at their sweet spot in under 10 minutes. I may look into getting another trigger when aftermarket ones start coming out.

So there you have it. When it worked, it worked like a charm. But I got fed up a bit trying to adjust and fix and work with some of these problems and ended up using my DM5 for the rest of the day. I figure it's a new marker and it just takes some getting used to.

In no way am I disappointed with it and I bet all you old Shocker owners will have it dancing in singing within 5 minutes of taking it out of the box.

I really dig my dust silver. It turned a lot of heads today - but then again, it's an 07 Shocker so any color will turn heads.
