Low Turnout, might be better for the players

there are only 151 teams signed up on the nppl website as of 9:45pm pst tonight (thursday night 8/31/2006). the nppl said that the cutoff was wednesday night at 7:00pm (8/30/2006). I hope they actually stopped the registration (do what they said they were going to do) and start to make the schedule and get it to the teams right away.

but, they will probably keep taking signups throughout the weekend because they want more money, and this will definitely slow things down. Actually, with only 151 teams, they can play on 5 fields instead of 6, and give the reffs a break more often in the hot sun. those reffs work very hard, and I am sure that they are beat up by the end of every day out there.

Supposedly, if the reffs get more breaks and stay refreshed, they will do a better job. and with only 5 fields, you can put more reffs on each field, adding reffs in the center instead of just around the perimeters.

what do you guys thinks about having 5 fields instead of 6?

i think that would be a good idea lets just see what happens and what the plan to do, i dont think they will take a field out just run 6 fields and the refs then get more of a break.

"there are only 151 teams signed "

LOL, almost spit my cereal all over my desk when I read that statement.

Dam, 30 teams use to be a good number. Now people are not happy with 151, lol.

Too funny.

Well, 200 is the max, so they hit 75% of their goal. Not bad at all.

Putting ref's in the center is a silly thing to do. When you are laying down in the center you have to look at one or two objects or players. You cant catch stuff as easy. When you have multiple guys in good spots on the perimeter then they can see a good portion of the field. If one ref can see the whole right side of the back 20 yards then the ref across from him can see the left, thus making it harder to cheat. Plus you can watch ALOT more stuff happen if you watch from the perimeters

But onto the topic... They will prolly stick to thier word and start planning things up. I wouldnt count on it being on 5 fields, becuz the sponsors of the fields want thier fields to be played on.
