Field Size

Does anyone know where I can find the standard field size for an X-Ball field?

I looked in the rules but could not find anything specific on the field size. The NPPL rules state 100X180 and the CFOA states 90X180.

PSP/X-Ball fields are 125' x 150'
NPPL fields are 100' x 180'
UAPL fields are 50' x 100'

So, in otherwords, you DID find something specific. lol
3-man, 5-man, 7-man? X-ball? NPPL, PSP, CFOA, and numerous other rule books will give you required field sizes for their tournaments and various formats.
For your field, make the field whatever size is convenient, unless you plan on hosting an event from a tournament series. In which case youd be best to make you fields regulation size according to their rule book.
Otherwise, its down to how much space you have and how many reasonably sized fields and staging area(s) you want to squeeze into that space.

I sent an email to the PSP asking for specific information about this. I don't understand why PSP left it out of the rule book.

This may be a silly question but, is the field still 125 X 150 for regular 5-man?

I think by PSP standards it is. However, our league uses fields that are 80 x 150 or 100 x 150.

Hey, I found it...

It was in the FAQ section under "Other". I guess they felt that it does not fit within the Rules & Equipment category.

http://www.pspevents.com/index.php?name=FAQ&id_cat=4

What are the dimensions of an Xball field?
150' x 125' are the dimensions for the actual playing field.

170'x 170' are the dimensions needed to build a PSP-style Xball field. This encompasses the netting surrounding the field as well as the 20' x 20' staging areas.

cough *psp still can't get on tv* cough. BTW, so far with all the PSP and NPPL promises of TV, it's funny that UAPL is the only league to get signed with a network (WGN) for a season to be aired.

It's not really surprising that the PSP hasn't been able to get picked up by TV, considering their past history with ESPN, Dick Clark and such. In my opinion, the NPPL is more likely to get paintball to TV than the PSP.

Also, just think of the size of crowds that go to the events, a PSP event that draws 6 thousand will be followed by a NPPL event that draws 10 thousand people. which legue would you want to put on tv if you owned a station.

The NPPL is already in contract with ESPN to produce 8 1-hour long episodes. Much of the filming for the shows was done at Miami last year. I believe i read the episodes were supposed to start airing shortly after HB.
