The following quotes came from a recently captured and translated Al Qaeda communication regarding their situation in Iraq. For the TL/DR crowd, things ain't lookin so good for Al Qaeda:

Re: confrontations with the Shiite Iraqi govt:
"It has been proven that the Shiites have a power and influence in Baghdad that cannot be taken lightly, particularly when the power of the Ministries of Interior and Defense is given to them, compared with the power of the mujahidin in Baghdad. During a military confrontation, they will be in a better position because they represent the power of the state along with the power of the popular militias. Most of the mujahidin power lies in surprise attacks (hit and run) or setting up explosive charges and booby traps. This is a different matter than a battle with organized forces that possess machinery and suitable communications networks. Thus, what is fixed in the minds of the Shiite and Sunni population is that the Shiites are stronger in Baghdad and closer to controlling it while the mujahidin (who represent the backbone of the Sunni people) are not considered more than a daily annoyance to the Shiite government."

Here Al Qaeda admits that they are using a "media oriented" strategy and that they are losing the war:

" The policy followed by the brothers in Baghdad is a media oriented policy without a clear comprehensive plan to capture an area or an enemy center...."

"At the same time, the Americans and the Government were able to absorb our painful blows, sustain them, compensate their losses with new replacements, and follow strategic plans which allowed them in the past few years to take control of Baghdad as well as other areas one after the other." "That is why every year is worse than the previous year as far as the Mujahidin’s control and influence over Baghdad".

Is it possible that we could actually be winning the war????

Here's the link to the entire memo posted on CentCom's site:

Who's doing the translating? How valid is the source? Good to hear if it's true, but I certainly have my doubts here...

Considering this DOES come from the Central Command, I'm not sure about the validity. I mean, our Government invested $100 million on a propagand campaign in Iraq.

Hey, who do you believe, U.S. Central Command or Al Qaeda? Actually, I believe both of them at times. Here, Al Qaeda is saying they're losing. I tend to believe it.

So basically, the letter was intercepted by CentComm, and they took the liberty of translating it for us, and then, in turn tell us? Meh, words get lost in translation all the time, especially when working with the Propaganda-Machine. Until I can see a photo of the letter or supposed contact, and a Muslim confirms it, I'll believe it. Until then, I'm skeptical. But nevertheless, sure, they SHOULD be taking on some damage, we've been there for how many years now?

If this is a fake translation to improve moral and overall support of the war, why isn't it all over every network news station in the country? I don't believe it's fake, simply because if it was intended for propaganda, why wouldn't they publicly release it to a large amount of people?

Typically, **** like this doesn't make it in the Mainstream media. That wouldn't sell, as a matter of fact, ratings would go down, because people these days just tune into the news to get the latest gossip about Bush.

That's because, despite the bumbling idiots who are calling the shots (both in government and in the media), we have the most professional, dedicated, highly trained, and hands down best ****in military in the world. There isn't a doubt in my mind that, given time, they can stabilize Iraq. And when they leave the Arabs will return to tribal warfare and military dictatorships.

Wait, I'm not sure what you're getting at? Are you saying we have a capable military, but their leaders are a bunch of bureaucratic ****heads? Oh, in that case, I agree.

For the most part. Not taking shots at anyone in particular since I really don't feel informed enough to comment on Rummy's job. However every thing from the intelligence to planning has been bungled somewhere in this administration.

Case in point: I was promised enough VX gas to kill everyone on the planet 5 times over. Where the hell is it?

all the media will focus on are the most negative parts of the war.

I read a statistic that over 80% of Bush supporters thought we went to War with Iraq because of 9/11.

It is sad that there are some American Citizens that do not want the USA to win the war in Iraq.
Or kill terrorists.
