civil war: two teams of ten stand shoulder to shoulder in two lines facing each other about 30 ft. apart. somebody says go and you just start shooting.

Gettysburg. Well, not a favorite of mine cuz it really hurts sometimes. Get as many people as u want. the more the marrier. Then line the 2 teams up in parellell lines like 100 or so feet apart. Then have one side shoot one shot, and only one shot fom each member of the team. If someone was to shoot more than one shot then he would be out. Then the other team does the same thing. Then, both teams take 1 step forwards. the process is repeated until all members of one team are eleiminated. So u can see that u can get really close to one another and see why it might hurt near the end.

Another, for those of you with gopeds/gocarts/4wheelers whatever

have one person drive bye on the automobile, with no gun, and a mask.
other person with gun gets 2-5 shots u pick, and they try to shoot the dude going by. you must be a set distance back.
It gets fun when you cheat and run to the other side of the road, where hes not looking for you and shoot his *** in the back

A field in my area that was great but short-lived had a large circular fort in the middle of its woods field called Fort Knox. So...

Name: Fort Knox
# of players: 20+. More or less depending on the fort size, but this one had a large diameter.
Rules: Basically, one team tries to take the fort, the other defends the fort. There is a flag in the center, and in order for the attacking team to win, it must be removed from the fort. For the defending team to win, they must prevent this from happening. The defenders must keep one foot in the fort at all times.

We played for 30 minutes, but you can decide the time on your own.

Also, when you are eliminated, you leave the field. After you get off the field, you are immediately revived and can re-enter the game. Players defending are still off-limits until they set foot in the base. So there is never a win by elimination, you HAVE to get the flag before the time runs out. So basically, one team has to eliminate a few in succession, then bum-rush the fort to surrender/bunker the remainder. Takes lotsa teamwork to take the flag.

Something that poked into my head on the way to a game last weekend:

Name of game variant: Meatgrinder
Optimum number of players: The more the merrier
Field type: Woods
Rules: One side is attackers, one side is defenders. The defenders have a set objective they are defending (...) and the attackers have to simply grab this for the match to end.

Here's the kicker, if an attacker is shot, he or she has to go back to one of the designated respawn points (depending on the field and number of people the number of respawn points can vary), these points should be outta sight from the attackers but not too far away. Once an attacker touches a respawn point they can go right back to the fray.

The defenders on the other hand get only one chance, when they are shot they're gone till the end.

Once the objective has been taken then the match is over and the teams switch sides. Once both teams have had a chance to be attackers and defenders, the team which captured the objective fastest is the winner. (so yes, you'll need a ref to time the game.)

In the end the attackers will always win, but who will win the war?

Just a slight rant: Civil War wasn't really fought in the Revolutionary War style fire lines. Much more advanced tactics. So your Civil war style games should really be Revolutionary War style, or even previous wars, since the Americans used some guerrila tactics during that war.

At MY PERSONAL field, i built two towers, one 20 feet up, another 30 feet up, and we play capture the towers. The catch is, the defenders of the towers cannot leave the general area of the towers, and the attackers can move around as they please. Its pretty much elimination.

me and my friends sometimes play a game it is like capture the flag except revised.... Your guns are at the opposing teams base and their guns are at your base... You take off runnning at each others base to intercept their flag (guarding wont help since you dont have a gun) and when you make your way back you both should encounter one another and have a shoot fest.... first one back wins... Make since...

BTW this was typed in a better format but my ******* accidentally hit back on the screen so thats why it is so unorganized on the screen...

Thumbs up

Im not sure what you call this but I played this once at a local field.

Field Type: Big Woodsball
Players: 10+ on each team

Everyone on every team has two armbands, one on each arm. The different teams have different color armbands. These should be just cheap plastic ribbon kind thats easy to rip off. You play as normal, but if you are shot you have to sit down and put up your arm. If a team mate tags you, you are back in. If an enemy can get to you, he rips off one of your arm bands and you return to the starting place. If a player loses both armbands he's eliminated permanently. When the game is over, each team counts the number of enemy armbands they have. Team with most bands wins.

Here are some games me and my friend's play, if some of them have been posted sorry for repost, i didnt have a chance to read all of the games yet.

-Dash for the 50
-8 - 12 (thats the number of players we usually have)
-Semi open area, not as open as speedball fields but with enough open space to run fast in.
-Set up one pod per a person at the center of the field, spaced about 10 feet apart each. Teams start on opposite sides of the field, with no paint, and when the go is given, everyone rushes to the center and grabs a pod, and all hell breaks loose.

-Fun as hell, because assuming all of your friends are relatively the same speed, everyone runs and gets a pod and runs back filling their pods looking like an idiot, and theres always one guy who couldnt get a pod and is rushing around trying to get one, and gets shot in the *** =p

-We also tried a variation where both teams started right next to each other, but for some reason it turned into a crazy painful close range fire fight, that was that last game of the day for us, I had 7 new bruises after just one game of that... ouch.

-The Fear of the Gods
-The more players the better
-Wooded field
-Divide the team into "Gods" and "Mortals" There should be 1 God for every 5 mortals or close to that. Mortals are not allowed to use their guns, only as many paintballs as they can carry in their pods and in their hands. 1/4 of the Gods have a gun filled with paint (only as much as a hopper can hold, no more) and the rest of the Gods have guns, but no paintballs. The Gods start out at the center of the field and the mortals have to try to kill the Gods by either throwing a paintball hard enough to cause it to break (which never happens =p) or either by smacking a paintball on the God.

-Was fun as hell for me, I played this at my birthday party with a bunch of my friends and I was the god with the paintballs and my two buddies just stayed with me and shot in the same direction, and they couldnt figure out who was actually shooting. I eventually died when I was walking through this little area we call "the crack" there are two large stones on each side of a small path, and when i was walking through there a friend of mine jumped from one of the rocks and tackled me and poped a paintball on my mask =p

best with 10 man teams
we had 2 people at one base with no guns and they were like prisoners and one team guarded them from being rescued and the other team has to free the prisoners but the catch is the rescue team can't shoot until a hostal action is taken on them. once the prisoners a saved they must be escorted back to the base of the resuers.

Snipers

Game: Snipers
*Must have tower or towers in the field to play though

Were we play rec ball their is an observation tower in the middle of the field. We play just like normal only their is a sniper from each team up in the tower so now you not only have to worry about opponets on the ground but in the air too. Oh yeah you can't shoot up at the snipers.
