Official How to Paint a Mask *PICS* (JT Flex)
Alright, well I probably see about 2-3 threads a day on how to paint a mask, so I decided to take pics and post how to do it so we can clear up these dumb threads.
**These same methods work with Proto Switch masks, and almost any others.**
Materials you will need:
-Mask
-Tape
- Krylon Fusion Spraypaint for Plastics
-Grocery Bag (optional)
-Scissors
Aright, So first take apart you mask.
Then you tape up the parts that you do not want to get painted. I put the grocery bag around to help from getting paint on the foam.
Using KRYLON FUSION Spraypaint, paint on your first coat.
Wait about 15 minutes inbetween coats. Put on about 3-4 coats. The longer you wait, the better.
Then you should wait about an hour for it to dry, or else if you handle it too soon it will chip. (The longer you wait, The tougher the paint will be.) I let mine sit overnight. **ALSO** Add a few coats of CLEAR or PRIMER. This will help prevent chipping**
Then you put it back together and get your finished product:
YEAH MAN!

Here's another way to protect the foam. Stick a lense in, preferably an old one, and tape over it. Then cut around the edges of the mask, and volila! You shield the foam with the lense, and the lense is shielded with the tape.

ALSO***
After you are done painting try adding about 3 coats of CLEAR coat, or primer or somthing. This will help keep the paint from chipping.

You've got the spray paint way to close to it....the farther away the better it will come out and not look so fake.

He means you need to hold the can farther away from whatever your spraying, that gives the paint time to "dust" onto the mask giving it a smoother sleeker look, instead of (no offense) the chunky thick pastey look the mask you painted has.
Plus when you hold the can closer the paint tends to blob on the surface and causes it to conglomerate.

He's right...
The farther the can is, the better. About 8-10 inches is the suggested length.
Also, Krylon Fusion comes in satin finishes which look great. The mask will look like it came from the store that way.
Heres one of my old Flex's:
