They are gun drilled out of solid aluminum. And not extruded body blanks. The dragon and species are probably the only gun to be able to claim gun drilled and solid aluminum body manufacturing. It is alot more expensive process to do.
Ask a dragon owner, and you can hear a distinct ping sound when shooting with a dragon. This is the different materials. Extrusion seems to have more of a dampening effect in the material
Gun drilling makes the bore straight and perfectly round. Extrusions will always have minor defects of warping in the bore. We hone them as best you can to round them but they will never be perfect less you hone for days. Making the bore to big.
With gun drilling the size of the bolt fits perfectly since the bore is a known and exact size.
With gun drilling there is less resistance on the bolt. No warped spots to slow the bolt down unevenly. This helps with consistancy, since the shots repeat better. One less thing to pull out of the equation for accuracy in shooting.
The dragon and species front tubes in front of the ram sleeve is slightly longer. Allowing the stoage of more air. Allowing even lower operating pressure.
