Question about PMI 72cu alum...

I don't think I can justify the cost of a carbon fiber tank right now so I'm going to go for one of the aluminum tanks for now. I was aiming for a 47cu/3k crossfire but saw the 72cu/3k pmi. I went to their site but the info they have on it is for the 88cu carbon.

Anywho... can anyone tell me how much the 72cu alum weighs and its dimensions? From what I can estimate it's about 11-12in long and has about a 4in diam but I need to make sure it's not a brick to lug around.

You mean Steel?? I'm positive there made of STEEL and not alum.

Pretty sure it's aluminum. Wouldn't look at steel. That's just too heavy. I know the 47cu alum is about 3lbs. Is it just about 50% heavier (minus reg) because the bottle is 50% larger? None of my local stores have one for me to look at.

Err, go for a 68/3k fibre wrapped on the B/S/T, they go for like under $100 if I recall correctly.

I have a pure energy 68/3k fiber wrapped tank I'd sell for $100. Hydro date is 4/04 so its less than a year old. PM me if interested.

Care to show me a Alum tank? Cause I work at a store and am pretty knowledgeable about this sort of stuff....ALL the metal tanks I have ever come apon weer STEEL.

I'm pretty sure it's alum. That's what all the retail sites have it listed as. I'd check PMI's site but the info is jacked up.

Not ALL the metal tanks are steel. Crossfire has their alum listed here.

The retail sites mostly have carbon and a some alum. I've only seen a few steel tanks listed.

hey...i acutualy have the pmi 72ci 3000psi tank...I think its worth it for the price it was 100 and that was the most i was willing to spend....its about 5 or 6 pounds and its 1 foot long.....i knows it heavier than some tanks but i still think it was worth the price considering just to get a fiber wrapped tank would have been like 180 at the shop i went to so i am happy with it...oh and to end the stupid argument its aluminum not steel....on my omen with the evo II hoppers is about 8 or 9 pounds all together give or take a little lol...

i have the 72/3000... i would definately save up for a fiber wrapped. its so much lighter and you can run a lot faster with them.

I'm wishing for the fiber wrapped but I can get the 72cu or 47cu for about 70 on ebay. Yeah the 72 and 47 cost nearly the same by about 10. Thanks for the info guys.

We have that tank..it's pretty damn heavy and when it get it the first time it's pretty big..it looks like you got a 2 liter bottle on youe gun.

I don't think they make 4500 psi tanks in anything other than fiber wrapped. It's probably too much pressure for the alum or steel ones to handle. Not sure though, I could be wrong.

You may be right. I think 4500 psi tanks only come in carbon.

As a matter of fact most metal tanks are alum. Most people call them steel tanks, but if you examine their DOT stamps, you will see that ALUM is clearly marked on them. Steel tanks are so 1994.
