The new Shift kit is one of the lightest alloy barrel kits available today. It also uses an expansion of the highly successful MacDev porting for quiet operation. The kit includes an autococker threaded back, 14" tip, and 4 bores (0.685, 0.689, 0.693, 0.696). It comes with a MacDev swab and plastic spanner in a tough carry case.

Cons: None
I bought my Shift kit a few months ago, and I love it. I use it on my Droid and it is very quiet. It has the most porting I have ever seen on a barrel. The way that it screws together is ****ing sick. The back gets screwed on to the gun, the inserts screw into the back, and then the tip screws on to the insert. It is definitely the sickest system on the market.

I know everyone cares about "accuracy" too. Pretty much any barrel will be accurate with good paint, and the Shift kit is no exception. There are 4 bore sizes so you will always be able to match the paint to the barrel exactly as you like.

It is one of the lightest all-aluminum barrels I have ever felt (I think it may be the lightest, but I don't have the exact weights). On my Droid it looks amazing, and the gloss black finish was flawless. It comes with a very nice soft case that fits everything you need inside, there is even space for different backs, inserts, and tips. It also comes with a small plastic wrench (very strong, won't break, and won't scratch the barrel), to get the inserts out of the back. It's not usually an issue though, I can normally get it completely apart by hand.

I give it a 10/10. I highly recommend it. There is honestly not a single thing that I don't like about this barrel kit. It is the best on the market, and the price is not too bad either. MacDev definitely has a winner!

Pros: Versatile, sturdy
Cons: Tools
I received a shift kit on my clone, and I liked it a lot. Initially it only came with the one stock insert, so I purchased two more once they became available. I didn't purchase the tool to take them off until later, when I realized it was necessary to ensure that the inserts were properly sitted so that they wouldn't come out. I loved how it shot though and would definitely consider shooting another one if I could get one of those tools.

Pros: Light, Lots of Porting, Shoots through chops easy
Cons: Insert can become stuck if over-tightened
Bought a Shift Kit a few months back and I've been very happy with it ever since. It comes with 4 bore sizes which is more than enough for what I use. It's very light and shoots through broken paint/chops very easily. With a proper bore to paint match it shoots ball on ball and is very quiet. There is a lot of porting on the tip so it's for sure to quiet down any gun.

Only down side to this barrel is that if you do over tighten it, it will become stuck and you will have to use an adjustable wrench or strap wrench to get it off (the plastic wrench included with it won't get the job done if its stuck). This is easily solved by lubing the threads on the insert or just tightening it til its snug.

I will also note that the barrel kit does come with a swab, but it's pretty pointless because its so large it doesn't fit into the barrel very easily and the middle section of the swab is very soft.

Pros: Quiet, porting, looks
Cons: Bore size
The Shift kit is very nice. To start it comes in a small carrying case with a front back and four inserts (.685 .689 .693 .696) a disassembly tool and a swab. There is spots for extra inserts. The insert screws inbetween the front and back.

There is alot of porting and it helps to decrease the noise. The Shift Kit is noticeably quieter than the stock barrel on my G3 and is equally quiet if not more so than a Sly kit.

The end barrel is sick looking It is a little over twelve inches long. The gloss finish is very shiny and matches the silver accents on my gun nicely. The black insert shows from the outside. I am not sure if this is a pro or con though.

I am not sure what MacDev was going for on the bore sizes. The smallest bore size is only .685. Most paint is .68 calibur and is becoming increasingly lower as a cost save. I think they should have made the .696 a .682. I have yet to have to paint swell enough to need the .696 but I have had paint where .685 was too big. Besides this the barrel is very accurate when you can correctly
match the bore size.

When I bought the Shift kit for $155 I thought it was a tad pricey since it is aluminum alloy not CF. I now find people who got it for $140 which isn't as bad Overall I give it a 8.5/10 for sizing of the inserts and sort of price.

Picked up a shift kit for my ego7 and shot the stock one that came with my clone. With the clone especially, the barrel looks excellent with the marker. Its a pretty light set up, and noticed a decent improvement in consistancy when i swapped from my shaft 2. Currently I keep a shift with a couple inserts and toss it on whatever marker im shooting at the time.

MacDev Shift Kit I like the insert idea, so you can get different threaded backs, while not having a real thin/****ty insert like the FREAK.

I deducted 2 stars on performance because this kit sits in my bag most weekends. The smallest size being a .685 is still too large for many paint brands. When I do get to use it I really enjoy it. If MacDev were to make a small bore expansion kit, then they'd have a real winner.

I received my shift kit with my Clone VX. I must say that this kit is for the serious baller. If you want to get the best insert barrel kit option on the market you've found it. Unlike it's predasessor the Freak Kit the inserts are no longer a free moving part.

The Inserts screw into the Barrel back and the Barrel tip Screws to the insert. This eliminates any spinning or movement by the insert.

Durbality this barrel gets a 11 out of 10. I'm a small fast snake player and I hit my barrel tip all the time diving into the snake. It's one of the unavoidable things. This barrel has lasted through my torture with flying colors. I've snapped insert barrel kits before 3 to be exact. Ussually they break or strip on the part where the tip meets the back but the Shift Kit was the backbone of a barrel i need all at the same time still retaining it's lightweight design.

BUY THIS KIT!
