I was lucky, got my rotor off someone BNIB right when they jumped in price.

I love the look of the rotor, and it's very easy to take apart and clean.

Only downside is that if a ball jams, the 'shark fin' doesn't work to clear it 90% of the time.

Cons: Price, capacity, jams
The battery life and durability of the Rotor are unmatched. Rotors are virtually indestructible. I have been using mine for 3 years now and the only problems it has given me are occasional jams. The only problems I have had with the Rotor besides occasionally jamming is the capacity. It barely holds a full pod of paint. This means you have to reload when the hopper is nearly empty. Once you play with a Rotor for a while you get used to it, but it can be a PIA in the beginning.

I have used a rotor for quite some time before my prophecy and they were excellent. It had one button on/off and was very simple. It could be taken apart super fast for easy cleaning or battery replacement. I just didn't like how hard it was to change the lid types from a hard lid to a speed feed or vice versa.

I love my rotor, but for some odd reason, it wants to jam on me when I need it the most.

The recent price hikes on them leaves a bad taste in my mouth

But these loaders are fast, and indestructible, I've used the same batteries for a whole year before.

I will still use my rotor, for years to come. Adjusting the tension has helped the jamming issue, and it happens less with good paint.

Pros: easy to disassemble
Cons: jams once in a blue moon
Pros:
1) Feeds balls consistantly
2) Easy to disassemble and clean. NO TOOLS to break down!! I'll never have to break apart another halo to properly clean everything.
3) low profile
4) practically indestructable. Haven't had to replace shells like I have for my halos
5) did I mention how easy it was to clean? this is worth another mention

Cons:
1) Only had it jam twice. Once when I let it bake in the sun when it was 102 out. My fault, should have set it in the shade. The other time it jammed I was able to clear it out with the shark fin.
2) Expensive if buying new

I've owned 4 different Rotors, Gen 1, 2 and 3.

I now have a 2012 blue cloth rotor, and it's my best one so far. There's NO difference in design between a 2012 Gen3 model or a 2011, etc.

I have used Rotors in the woods, in speedball, in the rain, in extremely high temperatures and very cold temperatures (20 degrees, I know, that's nothing to some of you guys).

I've never had one go down on me that wasn't related to paint breaking, or a bad battery.

The design of the Rotor is really ingenious, with a smart modular design that I'm starting to take Dye for granted for.

You can pop off the normal top and add a high capacity top without a huge nose (ala pinokio), you can change color schemes with available color kits (not a big deal to me, but some people it's huge), you can easily swap between speedfeed and lid with a few minutes work or by buying another top end...
You can literally strip the rotor apart ON the field in less than 20 seconds, clean it out, then put it back together, all while tucked into a tight bunker.

I've done it, I've watched other people do it, there are VIDEOS where pros do this.

Try that with most other hoppers... you'll be walking off the field, forget it.

Performance wise, this hopper is hard to beat. Of course with current speed limits it's a moot point, but aren't you glad to know you COULD shoot your marker at its top end and the hopper will keep up?

A single push button to turn off and on (a very NICE push button, compared to some older model hoppers) with a light to let you know when it's on is a great feature, too.

You can get the rotor in lots of different colors to match your marker, or camo if you're a woods/scenario player.

The only REAL downside is the price. Dye recently upped their MSRP on these to nearly 200 bucks.
I won't comment on that, I'll just leave that there for you to think about.

I recommend the Rotor to all paintball players, woodsball/scenario or speedball.

I have had 7 Rotors (yes, 7), a Halo B, and a Magna so far. The Rotor blows the rest out of the water. I don't think I'll ever switch for a long time.

Defects?
The earlier model Rotors had some problems such as blue LED not lighting up, feeding issues, etc.

Jamming?
I have personally never had any of my Rotors jam on me. Many, many cases have gone through it, and it has been fine. If it does happen to jam, the anti-jam shark fin kind of works, but sometimes you may have to take the Rotor off the feedneck to clear the feedstack. When using the anti-jam, it may seem not to work, but really all you need to do is pull it hard. A lot off people only pull it lightly, so that may be why there are many complaints about the anti-jam not working. You have to pull the anti-jam fairly hard to clear the jam.

How I like to check for jams before games is to simply pull on the anti-jam shark fin. If for some reason it moves very easily without any resistance, the Rotor is probably jammed (not confirmed). In this case, I like to just take off the Rotor and empty out the ball stack.

Reballs?
The Rotor is horrible with reballs honestly. Maybe it's because mine are a bit old and non-oiled, but nevertheless it feeds extremely slow. You will probably have to shake it around to get balls to come up.

Batteries?
Runs on 3 AA Bateries and last a very long time. Older, weaker batteries will have a slower feed rate though.

Appearance/Profile?
This probably has the smallest profile out of all the hoppers out there while still holding close to the same amount of paintballs. This is also the best looking hopper IMO, and can be customized with color kits to your liking.

Feeding?
The Dye Rotor feeds very fast. It is probably impossible to outshoot it on semi. These days, there is a bps cap at nearly all fields and every tournament, so it feeds fast enough for anyone. The Rotor also has very little to no popcorning (balls bouncing around when feeding) unlike other hoppers.

Maintenance?
Easiest hopper to take apart. Period. No one can even touch the Rotor in this category. I can take the Rotor fully apart within seconds. This is very convenient if anything ever gets into the hopper.

Pros:
Quiet
Only Uses 3 AA Batteries
Long Battery Life
Smooth Feeding
Easy Maintenance

Cons:
Hard to tell when low on paint
Some factory defects in early Rotors
Early Rotors do not have upgraded center arm piece
Suck with reballs

Please rate my review. I spend a good bit of time trying to give you guys information.

Have been using these loaders since they came out and WOW talk about a reliable loader. Still have my V1 and its running just like it would straight from the factory!

Not only are they reliable but maintenance and cleaning is a snap with the tool-less design. You can break them down and reassemble in no time and with the multiple options available now with kits and speed feeds its a versatile loader for any type of play.

Highly recommended if you can afford the new higher prices or can find a good deal on a used one.

Pros: Easy disassembly, fast, reliable, sturdy
Cons: None for me, but brand new ones being expensive.
The Rotor is perhaps one of the most advanced and easiest loaders to use and maintain to date. Full disassembly takes seconds and it's rather easy to clean. You should never be able to break the shell, it's practically a tank. Some complain about getting frequent jams and breaking fragile paint. I myself, very RARELY get jams and have never broken paint, and I've been using the Rotor since it's introduction. Those who get jams are either using terrible paint, or just highly unlucky. I have yet to use the SEED upgrade kit, but the Rotor is fine as is. If you're looking to get one, find one USED for the fraction of the price for a new one. A used one will function just as well as a new one since they are durable and highly reliable.
