Cons: resale value
there is not too many people in the paintball industry that has not owned this gun.. this gun has been in almost everyone’s collection. sad thing is that once you have it, it is hard to sale. i still have mine in case a buddy of mine wants to play. the ion is one of those guns that you can customize it to not look like an ion at all. every part on an ion can be bought in after market. it cost me $250 back in 2008 now is worth $75... still had fun with it and called it my sniper back in the day. went through to much head ache to just get rid of it but if ever decide to buy one, think twice

Smart Parts Ion I have the smart parts Ion for little over a year now. This is in my opinion a bad gun. I do not like it what so ever, it is hard to maintain, seems to always have problems, and is just a pain to fix.

Pros: Reliable, Accurate, Great price for what you get
Cons: Stock trigger, resale value
I bought my ion when they were brand new and super popular and amazing. I have never had a problem with it, ever. It was my first "high end" gun, and still play with it today. I LOVE this gun. Will never sell it. I have heavily upgraded it, but that was my choice, the gun is fine stock. The only thing that I didn't like was the stock trigger, switched it with a cp, and was in love. Every player that is getting into speedball should have one.

Resale value is poor however.

Cons: Needs upgrades
Overall a good quality marker. If you are looking for a good marker to start with and grow with, it will serve you well. Adding upgrades can be done for relatively cheap if you look for used parts and you can build yourself a custom marker that can hang with high ends.

Pros: very cheap starting marker
Cons: not really a tournament marker
Very good deal for the price, and has tons of upgradability. Good gun to start off with, and has the potential to be upgraded to be used in local tournaments. Can be bought with tons of upgrades very cheaply now on pbnation, but still a solid marker

I will be the first to admit that I was like every other ion owner and pimped my ion out with body kits, new boards, triggers, eyes, accessories, you name it. By the time it was all said and done I could have bought a 500 dollar marker instead. But in the end I loved that gun and its fully flexible parts that you could put on it.

Smart Parts Ion Good gun but could be a little heftier and thicker build so it withstands the rain

Cons: Stock ion needs serious upgrades
Bought a smart parts ion when it was first released. It was great budget marker that could compete on speed-ball fields. However it needs some basic upgrades like a new barrel, asa, feed-neck, and trigger. Possibly a new board and then the gun can compete with the best of them!
