Ion is a great gun for new players or as a back up but it's a bit finicky and will have problems out of the blue. It's cheap but terrible unless you put upgrades into it which cost a lot and does not effect resale. Resale sucks.

Pros: Reliable, Accurate, Great price for what you get
Cons: Stock trigger, resale value
I bought my ion when they were brand new and super popular and amazing. I have never had a problem with it, ever. It was my first "high end" gun, and still play with it today. I LOVE this gun. Will never sell it. I have heavily upgraded it, but that was my choice, the gun is fine stock. The only thing that I didn't like was the stock trigger, switched it with a cp, and was in love. Every player that is getting into speedball should have one.

Resale value is poor however.

Cons: not really a tournament marker
Very good deal for the price, and has tons of upgradability. Good gun to start off with, and has the potential to be upgraded to be used in local tournaments. Can be bought with tons of upgrades very cheaply now on pbnation, but still a solid marker

I will be the first to admit that I was like every other ion owner and pimped my ion out with body kits, new boards, triggers, eyes, accessories, you name it. By the time it was all said and done I could have bought a 500 dollar marker instead. But in the end I loved that gun and its fully flexible parts that you could put on it.

Cons: Stock ion needs serious upgrades
Bought a smart parts ion when it was first released. It was great budget marker that could compete on speed-ball fields. However it needs some basic upgrades like a new barrel, asa, feed-neck, and trigger. Possibly a new board and then the gun can compete with the best of them!
