It's a mid range price electronic marker.. You can't expect perfection from it but it WILL do what it's supposed to do. For the price you can't complain (well you could but I won't listen)

Smart Parts Ion mine was a first run, so i imagine improvements have been made, but overall its a good entry level tourney marker, even though there are similarly priced options which are better constructed

Pros: BEST VALUED Electro on market.
Cons: Nothing considering price.
Just wow. If Smart Parts would have done this 5 years before they did, even adding $40-50 to it, I doubt they would have went out of business.

You can have a Spyder, a Tippmann, a JT, or MAYBE a mechanical Autococker... OR, you can have a 17bps electro marker with the second most popular barrel threads on the market (first being Autococker threads, second being Ion/NXT).

The ONLY thing I would say is a con about this marker is that you have to take the gun fully apart to access the bolt. For $20-30 more you could get the Ion XE (2 years later) that had a Bolt Out Back body.

If they would have introduced the Bolt out back SE model and made it the Stock Ion, I believe it would have been the greatest paintball gun in the history of paintball.

Pros: almost everything
Cons: stock barrel has no range
Having owned and used this gun for over three years now i have to say its the best beginner gun on the market. The only upgrade I have put on it is a 22 inch tac barrel and that alone made this gun a killer. Ive never had any kind of problems with it and even without all the fancy upgrades it allows to me to compete with guys using markers that are worth double what i paid for this one when it was new.
