my first electro was an ion, i loved that gun. dont get me wrong, stock theyre nothing to brag about. after putting in about 1200 dollars or more on upgrades into this gun (which i know is alot dont get me wrong) my ion shot smooth, accurate, and efficient. i know you can buy alot of high end guns for the money i put into this but its a personal built gun, fully custom to your own design. i couldnt have asked for more.

The Smart Parts Ion is a great entry level gun however it shouldn't be your first and last paintball gun. The Ion is great in that it is cheap, inexpensive, there are many upgrades, and there's almost always someone at your local field that knows how to tear one down and can usually tell you whats wrong with it. I have had several ions my entry ion that had a few upgrades on it nothing special which was not the first gun I've had that has been replaced with something better i own one now its one of my back up guns or one i can pull out to play at the local field instead of an ETEK shooting 30+ bps my back up ion is fitted with every upgrade you can think of from a Qev valve to an APE rampage board on uncapped ramp (ramping is for fat people and kids with no skill) with the aftermarket parts and a good bolt you can push the ion to what they say is 35 bps which is definitely questionable its a gun that i can throw to a friend if his gun breaks down. I think just about everyone knows the ion is a M*****F***** to break down and maintain the XE is a little bit better but its all about the same. A stock ion will get you through playing with other entry level players however i do not recommend showing up at an x ball tourney with one. The stock ion's looks aren't too bad but im not a huge fan i like my after market body kit a whole lot better. All in all the ion is nowhere near the best gun you will ever own but it's great for beginners because of its stock speed and its low price.

I bought my ion about 8 months ago and i was thrilled by it at first. I bought a used ion with a upgraded trigger and feed neck. It worked at first nicely i bought a freak jr for it and put on a cp reaper trigger. When i tried joining a team they were teaching me to shootfast but this gun could not do it. I had my gun on ramping and it would fire 11 shots and then it would not go very far or fast and id have to let it stop so i could fire again. This is a gun for people who dont go paintballing very often or dont have the money for those fancy egos.

this gun is prolly the best bang for your buck. considering you find one cheap and used... this gun does everything the average baller can want. this also makes a great back up. its rare to see this things not working unless someone screwed something up cleaning it... i have seen these things go for ever without being lubed up as well , however the gun does look plastic and dont compare "in looks " to the nicer shiny guns... but honestly i have no problem shooting these guns
