Pros: Works great
Cons: Needs back cap
The ion is a good entry level marker if you treat it right. There are some bad things about it though. Out of the box its not so good, it will work but you will need to get at least 2 ups to make it alot better. You will need a clamping feed neck, it comes with one that uses orings(Those feednecks suck) and you will need a on off because it dose not come with an on off. You also have to take the whole gun apart just to clean the barrel, if you get a new body with a back cap you wont have to do this. The stock grips are, in my opinion, horrible. They are way to thick you will probabaly want to get thicker ones. It also looks prety bland stock. Good things it will shoot people out. It is a cheap marker. It will get you in.

The ION is a good gun but you will want to invest on getting up's for it.

I have use the same ion for about 2 years and it's a great overall marker. It has been very air efficient and reliable. I have heard many stories about them breaking a lot but I think its due to user error. The have only had very minor problems with the gun and all were because of me. (forgot to change the battery, part needed cleaning, etc.) I would highly recommend this marker because its a cheap, reliable marker

Cons: Everything
So i wanted a gun on a budget, and went into my paintball store and decided i would get the ion.

Well, what you pay for is what you get, stock its "ok" for a beginner, but people always say how great their ion is, and the truth is that its not
Sure, you can pay 500 bucks in upgrades, but it will still never shoot nearly as good as a high end gun
my point is a good gun dosnt even need upgrades, and out of the box is amazing
ie-dm678,ego678,marqs, the list goes on
i now own a marq 7 and you cannot compare it with the ion
ions are cheap, and a pain in the *** to take care of
this is the truth so dont flame
If you are looking for a gun to start off with, you could get this, but i would recommend a mini or prm or slg way before an ion
if you want to start speedball get it i guess
but if you want to go into tournies plz spend the money on a better gun
overall rating 3/10

The thing that sold me on the Ion is how upgradeable the marker is. This marker is the most upgradeable marker out there. My Ion does not have a single stock part anymore.

Overall, stock it is a cheap marker that will get the job done when needed, but when upgraded will perform well and look very good.

The only bad thing though is that you have to get upgrades just to considerate decent. The stock trigger is ok but a clamping feed neck is a must!!!

Cons: None, I stinkin love this gun!
This is my first paintball gun and I am so happy to have this gun! It looks really cool like a gun from an alien movie. I am great at aiming crappy old BB guns, but this really will help me on the field when I may need to aim. The trigger is extra sensitive. So much so that the gun almost seems like an automatic marker.

Me and my uncle had a match in the forest behind his backyard, so he shot me and I ran down by the water to hide and get a good shot, and I fell through the ice into the freezing cold water, the paintball gun is down in the water for a good minute at least. He pulls me out and quickly grabs my gun. He shoots it to test it out, and it shot out just fine. Extremely durable.
