Pros: Light, cheap
Cons: Inefficient, slow
I bought one of the very first Ions to come out. I was shocked at how light it was and was very pleased with what I got for the cash I paid. The gun was pretty accurate even with the stock barrel, but not good enough to use only the stock barrel. The board limits the rate of fire to 17BPS, which seems high, but I felt like I could max it out without trying. The modes were smooth and easy to change unlike previous Smart Parts boards. The gun performed well on the field but seemed to have eye issues from time to time. I could never make the gun have eye issues if I tried, but sometimes it just didnt want to read paint. I blame the fact I got an early model, as Ions I have owned since have had no such issue. The gun was poor on air, and this is worth mentioning. Even an aftermarket bolt does little to help. Buy all day air!

I have had this gun and it is not reliable at ALL! It craps out on me when i have used nitrogen and compressed air and lubed it properly. THe price is ok but overall not good especially for tournament players lol i can see this a good gun for brand new players but once you start playing more you will be like why the hell did i buy that?

Alright this is my first review so don't hammer me on this because of what you think about the marker.

Alright so I've had this gun for about three months, and i haven't had a problem with it yet. I haven't had to even replaced the battery yet. I have only broken paint in the barrel once and that was because i was using one year old paint just to shoot in the side yard at a tree while the eyes where off so yeah. While the first time you take it apart is a pain in the ***, but it teaches you about your gun. (Personally i love taking it apart and putting it back together) The looks of the gun i think are pretty cool. A lot of people say the trigger is really sloppy, but i adjusted it to the smallest pull possible and it isn't sloppy at all. It came with a locking feed neck, so that helped alot. Ummm the barrel i thought was really accurate. and i like the wrench to adjust your velocity and it's easy.

Pro's:
Just about everything

Con's:

maybe taking it apart( but i like that so?)

Ok well i got my Ion for christmas and i couldnt wait to shoot it. I already had these evil pipe barells wich i thought were excelent barells when i finally got to use them. my first time playing with it it caused me a little trouble because i had previously messed around with the dwell with out knowing what it did first, also i used the rong size barell for the paint i was useing. thismad a kind of soup come out of my gun and i had to clean the whole thing.
i gave it a 4 star apperance because i did like the way it looked but i still think it could look better with an allstar body kit but thats just my opinion.
i gave the preformance a 5 because it is consistent if u dont mess with the dwell like i did. once i got the dwell were it was supposed to be it shot like a pro.
i gave it a 4 for reliability because i usually get about 3 or four games out of my 3000 psi hpa tank
im not really sure about wat they mean by value but i think its worth the money to buy it i love playing with my ion and think others would to

i got my ion 2 months ago and it is awesome.
i have never had a ball chop ever, and ive taken down many of the big dogs with high end markers. If you put enough money into this marker it will perform as well if not better than most high end markers.
i have a critical rpm trigger, smart parts QEV, longbow barrel, techt L7 bolt, ion virtue board, and a dye sticky grip, and i must say, with my vlocity loader + gangstar chip, it is a beast.
it can get to 32 bps, and can out perform a stock dm7, not to mention with a longbow barrel it is accurate as ****.
this gun is a great buy all around. whether ur a beginner just getting into paintball or someone who loves tricking ur **** out (like me) this gun is for you.

Smart Parts Ion The color choice for these guns is cool because they have multiple to choose from. It is also a very light gun which helps for tiny guys like me. The vision eye system in needs a little bit more work.

My first gun,

This is the marker that changed paintball. Its cheap price, good performance, and overall accessibility to the players has made paintball more readily available to people with a smaller budget.

This is the first electropneumatic gun for real cheap. Its bang for the buck is incredible. Stock out of the box it shoots great for the price. Obviously it wont match up to the more higher end Ego's, Marq's, Timmy's, Dm/Pm's. It is a great beginner marker that for a cheap price lets players play semi for cheap.

One of the main problems out of the box is the feedneck. 9 times out of 10 it won't easily accept most loaders. Therefore an upgraded/aftermarket feedneck is an essential. Other than that it shoots great. Another great thing about the Ion is its upgradablity (Yes its a word). It has countless upgrades, and aftermarket parts that are readily available for the general public.

Obviously buying the ion wont make you instantaneously better. But it is a great starting marker for people on a budget.
